BUFORD — Gwinnett police are investigating a triple shooting in Buford that left two dead and another in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, the day’s second fatal shooting within county lines.

Police arrived at the scene at 2283 Ivy Crest Drive — off Kilgore Road near South Bogan Road — just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, discovering two deceased victims, described only as a white male and a black male, inside the home.

“Moments later another shooting victim was located at a nearby residence,” police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.

That third victim, another white male, had wandered up the street to another residence before being transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition.

The identities of the deceased were not released Tuesday. No information about possible suspects or motive was immediately available.

The victims’ connection to the home was unclear.

“I don’t know ... whether or not they lived here, or were renters or owned the house, or any information like that,” Ritter said.

One neighbor interviewed Tuesday said that the home — which had a “for sale” sign out front — had been in foreclosure and empty “for a long time.”

Dan Whitener has lived in the home next door for 20 years. He said that a woman seen crying while being interviewed by investigators was the owner of the home, and that he believed her son had been “taking care” of the home recently.

“It’s a good neighborhood,” Whitener said, reflecting on past block parties and residents, “but not as good as it used to be.”

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the inside of the home early Tuesday evening. Ritter called the investigation “lengthy.”

The shooting in Buford was the second of the day for Gwinnett County police. One man was killed and a woman in critical condition after an early-morning shooting at a Lilburn duplex off Pucketts Drive (STORY HERE).

Ritter said the two incidents were “completely unrelated.”
