PREP ROUNDUP: Norcross boys nip Duluth 53-50

DULUTH -- Harold Givens of Norcross scored 17 points on Tuesday night to help lift the Blue Devils 53-50 over Region 7-AAAAA rival Duluth in boys basketball. The win bumped Norcross' record up to 14-8 overall and 10-1 in the region.

Brandon Goodwin helped in the win with 16 points, while Myles Autry came up with 10 points.

Duluth's Zack Erwin led the Wildcats with a game-best 19 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shiloh 73, Brookwood 49

SNELLVILLE -- Robert Carter and Trayvon Reed of Shiloh each finished with 17 points on Tuesday night in leading the Generals 73-49 over Brookwood in Region 8-AAAAA.

Two other Generals reached double digits in scoring, with 13 points from Justin Blair and 10 points from Jordan Gaither. Shiloh upped its record to 18-3 overall and 11-1 in the region.

Brookwood was led by a game-best 18 points from Malcolm Hannah.

South 77, Grayson 64

LOGANVILLE -- Two South Gwinnett players broke the 20-point mark Tuesday night in the Comets' 77-64 win over Grayson in a Region 8-AAAAA game.

Simeon Dennis was the top scorer for South with 26 points, while Kyle Wright finished with 24 points. Dennis also had 11 rebounds, while Wright tallied six assists. Brandon Williams also pitched in for South with 16 points and 13 boards.

Grayson also had three players score in double figures in Ryan Carter with 18, Ryan Lisenba with 11 and Derick Pope with 10.

Parkview 51, Dacula 47

LILBURN -- Jordan Coleman and Javonte Douglas each scored 15 points Tuesday night in leading Parkview to a 51-47 win over Dacula in Region 8-AAAAA.

Andre Chatfield also scored 13 as Parkview improved to 5-18 overall and 4-10 in the region.

Brandon Goodson and Anthony Morse led Dacula with 15 points each, while Xavier Okoro added 10 points.

Archer 74, Central 60

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer's Randall Smith led all players with 22 points Tuesday night as the Tigers went on to defeat Central Gwinnett 74-60 in Region 8-AAAAA action.

Archer (16-7, 11-3) also received 16 points from Nafis Floyd, 13 points from Bryan Hamlett and 10 points from Tramique Anderson.

Central's leading scorer was Justin Martin with 15 points.

North 57, Mountain View 37

LAWRENCEVILLE -- North's Region 7-AAAAA record improved to 9-2 on Tuesday as the Bulldogs upended Mountain View 57-37.

A.J. Clements led North in scoring with 15 points, while Chris Bolden followed up with 14 points. Kwesi Abakah also logged a double-double for North with 10 points and 11 boards.

Top scorer for Mountain View was Jordan Dilwood with 10 points.

Collins Hill 43, Meadowcreek 40

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill upped its record to 8-13 overall and 4-7 in Region 7-AAAAA on Tuesday with a 43-40 win over Meadowcreek.

Leading the Eagles was Connor Iverson with 14 points, while Johncarlos Reyes added eight points, seven rebounds and six blocks.

Apalachee 58, Madison Co. 48

DANIELSVILLE -- Apalachee moved into a tie for second place in Region 8-AAAA, Division A on Tuesday by beating Madison County 58-48.

Rakim Peters had 19 points and eight rebounds in the win, while Cameron Blakley added 13 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Jermaine Smith also chipped in with 12 points for Apalachee (6-14, 4-4).

Gainesville 55, Lanier 42

GAINESVILLE -- Lanier suffered a Region 8-AAA loss Tuesday night, falling 55-42 to Gainesville.

Lanier, which was led by 16 points from Jordan Davis, fell to 12-11 overall and 4-6 in region play.

GAC 83, Clarkston 58

NORCROSS -- Four Greater Atlanta Christian players scored in double figures, led by 21 points from Delano Spencer, as the Spartans cruised to an 83-58 win over Clarkston in subregion 6A-AA.

Collin Swinton, Cole Hobbs and Isaiah Wilkins each added 13 points, helping the Spartans improve to 17-5 overall and 5-0 in the subregion.

Orlando Little and Quin Oliver each scored 15 to lead Clarkston.

Providence 51, St. Francis 44

ALPHARETTA -- Providence moved into first place in Region 5-A, Division B on Tuesday night by beating St. Francis 51-44. The win moved the Stars to 14-9 overall and 4-2 in the subregion.Kareem Adekunle had a huge night for Providence with 21 points and 18 rebounds, while Nate Bucher helped with 15 points.

Wesleyan 80, Rockdale 77

NORCROSS -- Shane Smith of Wesleyan poured in 33 points Tuesday night as the Wolves upended Rockdale 80-77 in a non-region battle.

Will Clifton also had 15 points for the Wolves, while McAllister Ball chipped in with 10 points. Wesleyan upped its record to 14-8.

Hebron 63, Social Circle 40

DACULA -- Hebron improved to 9-12 overall and 8-3 in Region 8-A, Division B with its 63-40 win over Social Circle on Tuesday night.

Cory Johnson scored 12 to lead the attack for Hebron, while Rob Harrison followed up with 10 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norcross 64, Duluth 37

DULUTH -- Norcross stayed on top the Region 7-AAAAA standings at 11-0 on Tuesday night as the Blue Devils topped Duluth 64-37.

Patrice Butler and Tori Carter each scored 16 points to lead Norcross (19-3 overall), while Shayla Cooper added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jasmine Kemp was the top rebounder for Norcross with 14, while Butler pulled down six boards.

North 59, Mountain View 55

LAWRENCEVILLE -- North Gwinnett improved to 18-2 overall and 10-1 in Region 7-AAAAA as the Bulldogs got past Mountain View 59-55 on Tuesday night.

Three Bulldogs scored in double digits, led by 18 points each from Ariel Johnson and Baylee Rexing. Peyton Whitted also had a strong game with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Mountain View (10-12, 3-8) was led by Ty Bledsoe, who hit four 3-pointers en route to an 18-point night. Kelsey Hutchins added 14 points and seven boards for the Bears, while Bria Virgil finished with 11 points.

Collins Hill 86, Meadowcreek 52

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill had a balanced scoring attack Tuesday night with five players in double digits as the Eagles soared past Meadowcreek 86-52. The win boosted Collins Hill to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Emily Buck and Jordan Ulm each scored 14 for Collins Hill, with Buck adding five steals and five rebounds and Ulm contributing three steals. Brittany Stowers added 12 points, while Julianne Bayer chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds. Breana Singleton flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 13 assists, 10 points and seven steals.

Angel Alexander had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Freddie Banks 16 and eight rebounds and Jessica Ramirez had 12 points for Meadowcreek (4-13, 0-7).

South 54, Grayson 38

LOGANVILLE -- Yvonna Dunkley of South Gwinnett scored 17 points Tuesday night in leading the Comets to a 54-38 win over Grayson in Region 8-AAAAA action. South improved to 14-8 overall and 9-4 in the region.

Tiffany Jenkins added 13 points for the Comets, who pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring the Rams 23-4. South also had a strong night with its free-throw shooting by hitting 12 of 14 from the line.

Grayson's Sydnie Hixson led the Rams with 17 points.

Archer 51, Central 43

LAWRENCEVILLE -- After scoring just 12 points in the first half, Archer's offense came alive in the second half to help propel the Tigers 51-43 past Central Gwinnett in a Region 8-AAAAA game. Archer (15-8, 9-5) trailed 19-12 at the break, but completed its second-half surge with 23 points in the fourth quarter.

Alesha Mann scored eight of her 12 points in the final frame, while Madison Newby chipped in with 11 points and eight assists. Cii Cii Marseille also helped in the win with 10 points, four rebounds and four steals.

Central (10-12, 6-7) was led by 13 points from Nia Hardy and 10 points from Taja Latimore.

Parkview 52, Dacula 32

LILBURN -- Parkview's undefeated season continued on Tuesday night as the Panthers topped Dacula 52-32 in Region 8-AAAAA action.

Erika Joseph led the Panthers (23-0, 14-0) with 21 points, while Genesis Perrymond tallied 16 points, hitting five 3-pointers on the way.

Dacula was led by seven points from Joni Weatherspoon and six points from Kendall Culpepper.

Brookwood 63, Shiloh 30

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood's offense recorded 20 assists Tuesday night as nine different Broncos scored in Brookwood's 63-30 win over Shiloh in Region 8-AAAAA play.

Rebecca Walker paced the attack with 20 points and six assists, while Courtney Gardner added 14 points and 13 rebounds. Nicole Plaisted also finished with 12 rebounds for the Broncos (13-10, 11-3).

Raquel Cranston and Bria Ratliff each scored nine points for Shiloh (4-16, 2-10).

GAC 65, Clarkston 17

NORCROSS -- Brianna Cummings scored 18 points Tuesday night as Greater Atlanta Christian had no problem with Clarkston, cruising to a 65-17 win.

Sydni Means also added 13 points as GAC improved to 17-5.

Wesleyan 54, Rockdale 44

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan picked up a non-region win Tuesday night with a 54-44 defeat of Rockdale, despite Rockdale holding a decided advantage at the free-throw line. Rockdale hit 10 of 17 from the stripe, while Wesleyan went the entire game without a free throw.

Holli Wilkins led the Wolves (19-3) with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Brittany Stevens added 10 points, five rebounds and five steals.

Hebron 57, Social Circle 16

DACULA -- Hebron improved to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in Region 8-A on Tuesday with a 57-16 win over Social Circle.

Amber Skidgel led all players with 25 points, while Taryn Higgins chipped in with nine rebounds and six points.

St. Francis 57, Providence 34

ALPHARETTA -- St. Francis defeated Providence 57-34 on Tuesday night.

Providence, which fell to 8-14 overall and 2-4 in Region 5-A, Division B was led by 18 points from Erika Gotfredson.

WRESTLING

Mustangs ends record-setting season

NORCROSS -- Meadowcreek posted two more wins Tuesday night, ending its dual-meet season at 32-11, the most wins in school history.

The Mustangs had seven wrestlers go undefeated as Meadowcreek beat Campbell 51-18 and Dacula 46-27.

Alex Steele (160 pounds) and Eduardo Moran (285) each had two pins on the night for Meadowcreek, while O.G. Harden (170), Ryan Moore (182), Robert Nguyen (113), Dante Bennett (120) and Rene Deluna (126) each won two matches.
