SUWANEE -- The city of Suwanee is looking for another group of artists to help mold the next edition of its award-winning public art exhibition dubbed "SculpTour."
The current version of SculpTour -- an outdoor exhibit of 15 sculptures on loan from artists and displayed in and around downtown Suwanee -- has been around since last May and will run through the end of March. The project recently earned awards from the Georgia Municipal Association and Artworks! Gwinnett.
Although the current exhibit is still active, the city is already accepting proposals for the next rendition, to be on display from May to March 2013. Selected artists receive a stipend, and the sculpture voted the "people's choice" at the end of the exhibit will be added to Suwanee's permanent collection.
More information for prospective artists is available under the "business matters/requests for proposals" section of www.suwanee.com. Submissions are due by Feb. 17.
Suwanee has recently stepped up the technology on the SculpTour, creating a podcast available on iTunes and enabling visitors to vote for their favorite sculptures online or via QR codes on each piece.
