Donald Dewitt Harmon Jr. 51yrs old, of Lawrenceville GA parted this world Sunday January 22, 2012 after a 3 ½ year battle of cancer. Don now joins his father and two children in the home of our Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his Father Donald (Sonny) Harmon Sr., Daughter Melissa Ann Harmon and Son Andrew Benjamin Harmon. He is Survived by Wife and best friend of 29 years Patricia (Trish) Jackson Harmon, Son Donald Charles (Cara) Harmon and Daughter Mary Elizabeth Harmon, all of Lawrenceville GA, His Mother Lynda Rickerson Allen of Tampa FL, and by Sisters Beverly Harmon (Bill) Kieny of Tampa FL and Cynthia Harmon (Fred) Trainor of Albuquerque NM. His father like Uncle T.C. (Maggie) Harmon, raised as his children Angela Hersey of Oakhurst, TX and Joseph Hersey of Lakeland, FL, sister in law Donna Jackson Bernal of Punta Gorda, FL, father in law Don (Martha) Jackson of Punta Gorda, FL, Loving Grandmother in law Mary Lois Jackson Lewis of Dayton, OH and many close aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Don was an accomplished Craftsman, Handyman, and Engineer. He made a mark on everyone that he worked with most importantly at Coca-Cola and after 24 years ended employment as the Research and Development Director at Rovema Global Packaging. Always hard at work with his hands he crafted his family home to make it their own. He was the world’s greatest mentor to anyone who sought his vast knowledge and experience. He was a man that loved his children and all the children of his life, he was a member and leader of the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the actors’ guild with the Northeast Atlanta Ballet, and volunteered his time and his home to multiple animal rescue organizations. Don was born in Augusta GA and resided there as a young man before moving to Brandon, FL before marrying and moving to GA. As one of the GREATEST MEN to anyone who crossed his path he lived a most full and happy life. He woke each day and announced “Today is a Great day because I woke up” Most importantly Don had A WONDERFUL LIFE. A Celebration of Life Service for Donald Dewitt Harmon will be held Sunday, January 29 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Pastor David Shelton officiating. Interment will be held at Nicholson City Cemetery, Nicholson, GA. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8PM at the funeral home.
