PREP ROUNDUP: Erwin, Duluth boys stun North

DULUTH -- Zach Erwin scored 19 points and Michael Randle had 15 as Duluth upset North Gwinnett 62-46 in Region 7-AAAAA boys basketball. Ify Imachukwu added 14 points and Romelo Stryon had 10 as Duluth (6-14, 3-6) put four players in double figures and won for the first time in more than a decade against North. Chris Bolden led the North attack with 13 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Berkmar 55, Central 41

LILBURN -- Adonai Rogers had 19 points as No. 7 Berkmar improved to 13-6 overall and 11-1 in Region 8-AAAAA with a 55-41 win over Central Gwinnett. Yonel Brown had 12 points and Tim Rowe added 11 for the Patriots.

Mill Creek 57, Collins Hill 49

SUWANEE -- Daniel Loudermilk scored a game-high 18 points and Trevon Shaw added 11 as No. 5 Mill Creek held off Collins Hill 57-49 in Region 7-AAAAA. Paul Evans added 10 points for the Hawks, who improved to 16-3 overall and 7-2 in the region.

Parkview 57, Grayson 51

LOGANVILLE -- Andre Chatfield had 18 points as Parkview edged Grayson 57-51 in Region 8-AAAAA. Jordan Coleman and T.J. Thomas had 13 points each, while Jalen Abraham had 10 for the Panthers. Marquise Lanier led Grayson with 17 points and Derick Pope had 14.

Dacula 47, Brookwood 41

SNELLVILLE -- Xavier Okoro had 22 points and 10 rebounds as Dacula knocked off Brookwood 47-41 in Region 8-AAAAA. Malcolm Hannah had 10 points to pace the Brookwood attack.

Meadowcreek 63, Mountain View 47

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Meadowcreek erased a five-point halftime deficit and rolled past Mountain View 63-47 in Region 7-AAAAA. Brandon Banks led the Meadowcreek attack with nine points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Daniel Mensah had 14 points and Melvin Scott had 10 for the Mustangs. Ryan Gibbs led Mountain View with 17 points and Sean Starke had 14.

Lanier 47, West Hall 45

OAKWOOD -- M.J. Bryant hit two free throws with 14.4 seconds remaining to break a 45-all tie and send Lanier to a 47-45 win over West Hall in Region 8-AAA. Bryant, who was just 1 of 2 from the field in the game, came up with seven assists and six rebounds for the Longhorns. J.C. Williams added 10 points off the bench for Lanier (11-10, 3-6).

GAC 68, Westminster 27

ATLANTA -- No. 4 Greater Atlanta Christian put three players in double figures as the Spartans trounced Westminster 68-27. Delano Spencer had 17 points for GAC (16-4), while Collin Swinton had 16 and Cole Hobbs had 10.

Buford 55, Blessed Trinity 43

ROSWELL -- A.J. Davis and Kyle Kellam had 14 points each as No. 6 Buford defeated Blessed Trinity 55-43 in Region 6-AA. T.J. Shipes had nine points for the Wolves, who improved to 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the region.

Wesleyan 84, Pinecrest 60

CUMMING -- Senior Shane Smith scored his 1,000th career point en route to a game-high 30 points as Wesleyan crushed Pinecrest 84-60 in Region 5-A, Division B. Drew Ritter added a career-high 19 points and Charles Mack had 10 for the Wolves (13-6, 3-1).

Mount Pisgah 60, Providence 59

ALPHARETTA -- Despite 20 points from Charlie Scott, Providence fell to Mount Pisgah 60-59 in Region 5-A, Division B. The Stars drop to 11-9 overall and 2-2 in the subregion.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Berkmar 41, Central 39

LILBURN -- Senior Amy Adame connected on a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining as Berkmar rallied for a 41-39 win over Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA. Adame led the way for Berkmar (7-12, 5-7) with a game-high 13 points. Nina Williams added nine points and Daijah Cooke had seven for the Patriots. Nia Hardy and Caryn Ivey each had 10 points for Central.

Parkview 55, Grayson 20

LOGANVILLE -- No. 3 Parkview put 13 players in the scoring column as the Panthers ran their record to 21-0 overall and 12-0 in Region 8-AAAAA with a 55-20 pounding of Grayson. A.J. Jefferson had a team-high 10 points for Parkview, while Tatiana Wayne had nine and Marissa Mandeldove added eight.

Mill Creek 51, Collins Hill 32

SUWANEE -- Jasmine Carter had 17 points and nine rebounds as Mill Creek defeated Collins Hill 51-32 in Region 7-AAAAA. Nadiya Miller chipped in 10 points, while Sierra Menzies had eight assists and six rebounds for the Hawks (14-6, 6-3). India Dillard added 10 points and five rebounds for Mill Creek, which led 31-7 at the half and coasted home to the 19-point victory.

North 45, Duluth 37

DULUTH -- Peyton Whitted led the way with 15 points and 12 rebounds as No. 4 North Gwinnett got past Duluth 45-37 in Region 7-AAAAA. Alexis Munlyn added 12 points and nine rebounds for North (16-2, 7-1), which hit on 21 of 29 from the free-throw line. Joi Jones had 16 points and Katie Powell had 13 for Duluth (13-7, 4-5).

Brookwood 47, Dacula 30

SNELLVILLE -- Courtney Gardner and Rebecca Walker had 12 points each as Brookwood rolled to a 47-30 win over Dacula in Region 8-AAAAA. Alliah Jackson added eight points and six assists, while Walker also chipped in eight blocked shots for the Broncos (11-10, 9-3). Brookwood also connected on 17 of 22 from the free-throw line to seal the victory. Joni Weatherspoon led Dacula with seven points and seven rebounds.

Mountain View 56, Meadowcreek 45

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Kelsey Hutchins had 16 points as Mountain View knocked off Meadowcreek 56-45 in Region 7-AAAAA. Iceis Walker added 14 points and D'andre Pringle had 11 for the Bears (10-10, 3-6). Angel Alexander had a game-high 22 points and Freddie Banks added 20 for Meadowcreek as the two players combined for 42 of the Mustangs' 45 total points.

GAC 61, Westminster 31

ATLANTA -- Sydni Means had a game-high 16 points and Brianna Cummings added 12 as No. 10 Greater Atlanta Christian cruised to a 61-31 win over Westminster. Sierra Lawrence had 10 for the Spartans (16-5), who led 35-8 at the half en route to the 30-point win.

Buford 77, Blessed Trinity 28

ROSWELL -- Kaela Davis had a game-high 23 points as No. 4 Buford routed Blessed Trinity 77-28 in Region 6-AA. Andraya Carter had 10 points for Buford as the Wolves, who led 54-16 at the half, improved to 13-6 overall and 9-0 in the region.

Providence 52, Mt. Pisgah 28

ALPHARETTA -- Erika Gotfredson went for a game-high 22 points as Providence rolled past Mount Pisgah 52-28 in Region 5-A, Division B. Jessie Kowalewicz had 14 points and Aubrey Gold had 10 for the Stars (8-11, 2-2).

Wesleyan 80, Pinecrest 8

CUMMING -- Top-ranked Wesleyan had all 13 players score as the Wolves destroyed Pinecrest 80-8 in Region 5-A, Division B. Holli Wilkins had 18 points and seven rebounds to lead the way for Wesleyan (16-3, 3-0), while Kendra Talley had 11 points and Nikki McDonald had 10. Joshlyn Belcher added seven assists for the Wolves.

WRESTLING

GAC knocks off state duals Class A champion

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian came up with a huge win on Senior Night as the Spartans knocked off Class A state duals champion Holy Innocents' 44-15. Will Parker (138) and Parker Fair (220) picked up wins by pin for the Spartans, who improved to 35-6 on the season. Major victories came from Caleb Bumpers (126) and Parker Embry (132). GAC also got wins from Kyle Politz (106), Brandon Bradley (113), Will Hemby (145), Ethan Tolbert (152), Zach Feuerbach (160) and Connor Crumrine (heavyweight).
