Peachtree Ridge junior Josh Brickell was named the Gatorade Georgia Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year in a Monday announcement by the sports drink company and ESPNHS.
Brickell won the Class AAAAA state title last November for the second straight season, helping the Lions to fifth place in the team standings. A two-time Daily Post runner of the year in cross country, he was fourth at the Foot Locker South Regional Championships and eighth at the Foot Locker National Championships last fall.
Brickell, who also has a 4.0 GPA, joins Grayson's Kirubel Erassa (2009) as the only other Gwinnett boys runner to win Gatorade's statewide honor.
