Part of Ga. under tornado watch as storms move in

ATLANTA (AP) -- A tornado watch was in effect until mid-morning in parts of northwest Georgia as storms moved into the state from Alabama.

The National Weather Service said the tornado watch would be in effect until 11 a.m. Monday for Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Polk, Walker and Whitfield counties.

Several northwest Georgia cities were included in the watch area, including Cartersville, Dalton and Rome.

The severe weather threat comes as several Georgians continue clean-up efforts after powerful storms dropped hail and toppled trees. WSB-TV reports that one tree narrowly missed a woman holding her 18-month-old boy when it crashed through a bedroom wall of their home on Shenfield Drive in north Fulton County on Saturday.
