LAWRENCEVILLE -- A few companies put their hats in the ring to build a new four-star hotel at the Gwinnett Center.
According to Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Lisa Anders, two companies had submitted proposals for the partnership by Friday afternoon and another was expected to submit by the end of the day.
Anders said the interest was what was expected three years after the hotel project was put on hold due to the down economy.
She declined to give the names of the proposers until after an initial review, which could take a week or two.
While the county owns the Gwinnett Center land at Sugarloaf Parkway and Satellite Boulevard, the hotel would only be built with private dollars.

"The hotel would only be built with private dollars." Great. If only they had taken that attitude when they built the stadium.

what kind of partnership are they talking about? Since the County owns the land, there should be some rental income being paid to Gwinnett. This is not disclosed or explained in this article. It is incomplete and leaves the door open for something sinister to happen, like free rent.
