LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Snellville man accused of running a bootleg music and movie website was arrested this week following a months-long investigation.
Gwinnett County investigators began looking into Duane Alton Blalock's site -- www.blalocksgaragemusic.com -- last September after a tip from a "concerned citizen," according to a police report. A quick search of the site found this incriminating disclaimer, police said: "These compact discs and DVDs on this site are unauthorized releases and therefore are not perfect sound or video."
The website was not active Friday.
In October, Gwinnett officials arranged to purchase three items from the site. When those arrived, a Morrow police officer who also works as an investigator for the Recording Industry Association of America "immediately" verified the items as unauthorized reproductions, police said.
According to original incident reports, an affidavit was filed on Nov. 21 and the case was considered ongoing.
Gwinnett County Jail records show Blalock was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of reproduction of recorded material, a felony. Information regarding events that led to his arrest this week was unavailable.
