NORCROSS — A 20-year-old Lawrenceville man has been charged with stabbing his grandfather to death and leaving his body in an apartment near Norcross, police said Tuesday.

Arion Henderson is charged with murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another and two counts of theft by receiving.

Investigators believe Henderson fatally stabbed William Andre Stridiron, 59, and left him in a unit at the Valencia Apartments at 3500 Peachtree Corners Circle.

Gwinnett police responded to the apartment to conduct a welfare check Friday morning when they found Stridiron in his apartment. He was known to have suffered from various medical conditions and was wrapped in a comforter in a back bedroom, police said.

“The cause of death was not immediately apparent and appeared to be suspicious,” said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter.

Arrest warrants obtained by the Daily Post indicate Henderson stabbed the victim twice in the neck with a steak knife sometime between Jan. 9 and Friday. Henderson then wrapped Stridiron in a comforter and doused the body in bleach “to hide the evidence of decomposition,” the warrants state.

Investigators developed probable cause to charge and arrest Henderson on Friday. A clear motive has not been determined, Ritter said.

After the klling, warrants indicate Henderson stole his grandfather’s 42-inch television and 1998 Ford Windstar Van, resulting in the felony theft charges against him.

Henederson remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, pending a probable cause hearing scheduled Jan. 25.

The Atlanta woman who initially asked police to check on Stridiron did not return a call for comment Tuesday. She told police she hadn’t heard from Stridiron in a week and was worried.
