Broncos place sixth at state duals

MACON — Brookwood’s wrestling team placed sixth at the Class AAAAA dual state wrestling tournament on Saturday at the Macon Centreplex.

The Broncos lost to nationally ranked Collins Hill 62-9 in the first round, but battled back to place. Brookwood defeated Kennesaw Mountain (39-27), Roswell (37-26) and Peachtree Ridge (38-26). They lost their final two matches to North Forsyth (61-12) and to Lowndes (35-31) to finish in sixth out of 16 teams. Camden County won the state title, beating four-time defending state champion Collins Hill. Third-year program Archer placed third.

Greater Atlanta Christian was third in the Class AA tournament.
