NORCROSS -- Oak Hill Academy is known more for its boys basketball program, but the Warriors brought a 21-1 record to the Peach State Battle of the Southeast.

Unfortunately for the Virginia school, the event was at Wesleyan's Yancey Gymnasium. The Wolves haven't lost in nearly two years on their home court.

Wesleyan, which has won four straight state championships, jumped to an early lead, was up by 13 points at halftime and then survived a poor third quarter for a 60-50 victory Saturday.

"We have flashes where we look great and then times where we look mediocre at best," Wesleyan coach Jan Azar said. "It's killing me."

Holli Wilkins had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals as Wesleyan, ranked No. 1 in Class A and No. 20 in the ESPN Fab 50 national poll, improved to 13-2.

Brittany Stevens contributed 12 points, six assists and two steals to the victory, while Katie Frerking had eight points and four assists. Jordan Frazier scored seven points and Kaelyn Causwell had seven rebounds. Missy Byrd added six boards.

Wesleyan scored the first eight points of the game, led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter and appeared in command when Stevens hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give the Wolves a 39-26 edge.

Oak Hill, however, outscored Wesleyan 14-5 in the third quarter to pull within 44-40. Soon the advantage was back to eight points, though, and the Wolves kept a safe lead by making 6 of 7 free throws down the stretch.

Wesleyan hasn't lost in its home gym since a one-point overtime defeat to Buford late in the 2009-2010 regular season.

Reminded of the fact, Azar said, "Don't jinx us."

GAC 45, St. Pius 30

Playing just 15 hours after a tough loss to Region 6-AA rival Buford, Greater Atlanta Christian bounced back for a 45-30 victory over St. Pius, Class AAA's No. 3-ranked team, in the first game of the Battle of the Southeast on Saturday morning.

"It was a good win for us, especially with the quick turnaround," said GAC coach Cal Boyd, whose team is ranked No. 6 in Class AA.

Brianna Cummings led the Spartans (12-5) with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while fellow sophomore Sydni Means had nine points, four steals and two assists. CiCi Buford and Sierra Lawrence each scored eight points for GAC.

The Spartans stretched a 24-14 halftime lead to 37-20 by outscoring St. Pius 13-6 in the third quarter and coasted to the victory.

Dylan Krause led St. Pius (13-3) with nine points. Freshman standout Asia Durr scored just four.
