PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers triumph on last-second free throws

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Telvin Gabriel hit two free throws with 2.9 seconds remaining to give Archer a 54-53 win over Dacula in Region 8-AAAAA on Friday.

Tramique Anderson had hit a three-pointer with 15.9 seconds left to cut the Dacula lead to one, setting up Gabriel's heroics at the end of the game.

Randall Smith paced the Archer attack with 19 as the Tigers improved to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the region.

Anthony Morse led Dacula with 14 points while Bryson Burlong had 11 and Brandon Goodson 10.


Central 75, Brookwood 68

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Slim Delbridge had 22 points, including going for 7-for-7 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, as Central Gwinnett held on to beat Brookwood 75-68 in Region 8-AAAAA action Friday.

K-Ci Maultsby had 15 points, including five three-pointers, and Eman Westmoreland had 12 for the Black Knights (10-6, 5-4). Central hit 10 three-pointers in the contest.

Malcolm Hannah led Brookwood with a game-high 29 points and five assists, while Austin Lewis had 14 points and four assists. Khalil Abdullah had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Broncos.

North 58, Meadowcreek 41

SUWANEE -- Kwesi Abakah had 16 points and nine rebounds while Chris Bolden also poured in 16 points as North Gwinnett ran past Meadowcreek 58-41 in Region 7-AAAAA on Friday. North improved to 5-1 in the region.

Collins Hill 53, Mt. View 41

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Johncarlos Reyes connected for 22 points and cleared the glass for 10 rebounds as Collins Hill defeated Mountain View 53-41 in Region 7-AAAAA on Friday. The Eagles, who are 5-2 in their last seven games, also got 10 points each from Devin Mitchell and Connor Iverson. Mitchell added six rebounds.

South 62, Parkview 53

LILBURN -- Simeon Davis had a game-high 22 points and added 14 rebounds as South Gwinnett got past Parkview 62-53 in Region 8-AAAAA on Friday. Logan Adams had 16 points and 15 rebounds while Kyle Wright had 13 points and five assists for the Comets (7-6, 5-4).

Andre Chatfield led Parkview with 16 points and six rebounds, while Jordan Coleman had 14 points and Jalen Abraham had 12.

Peachtree Ridge 57, Duluth 49

DULUTH -- Jordan Capps had 16 points and Cole Rives added 10 as Peachtree Ridge defeated Duluth 57-49 in Region 7-AAAAA on Friday. The Lions improve to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the region.

Michael Randle and Gregory Blackshear had 14 points each for Duluth.

Madison Co. 58, Apalachee 48

DANIELSVILLE -- Cameron Blakley had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Apalachee, but the Wildcats dropped a 58-48 decision to Madison County in Region 8-AAAA North action Friday. Apalachee falls to 4-11 overall and 1-2 in the subregion.

Hebron Christian 65, Riverside Military 57

DACULA -- Hebron Christian moved to 6-10 and 5-1 in Region 8-A behind 20 points from Dylan Schulte as the Lions defeated Riverside Military Academy 65-57 on Friday. Tyler Skigel added 15 points and Ryan Thomas had 12 for the Lions.

Providence 59, St. Francis 50

LILBURN -- Balanced scoring propelled Providence Christian to a 59-50 win over St. Francis in Region 5-A on Friday. Kareem Adekunle went for a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds to pace the Stars' attack, while Nate Bucher added 13 points. Charlie Scott chipped in 12 points and Nikko Cormier had 11 as Providence put four in double figures.


North 81, Meadowcreek 35

SUWANEE -- Bailey Rexing scored a team-high 16 points and Alyssa Munlyn added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 6 North Gwinnett to an 81-35 win over Meadowcreek in Region 7-AAAAA action Friday. North (13-1, 6-0) also got 14 points each from Ariel Johnson and Jordan Hyatt while Keniesha Wilborn added 12 rebounds.

Freddie Banks led Meadowcreek (4-13, 0-6) with a game-high 19 points.

Parkview 50, South 32

LILBURN -- Marissa Mandeldove knocked down a game-high 19 points as No. 3 Parkview remained undefeated with a 50-32 victory over South Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA on Friday. Erika Joseph chipped in nine points as the Panthers (17-0, 9-0) put eight players in the scoring column. South dropped to 10-6 overall and 6-2 in region play.

Peachtree Ridge 52, Duluth 39

DULUTH -- Mahrie Bowman poured in 22 points and added 11 rebounds and three steals as Peachtree Ridge held on to beat Duluth 52-39 in Region 7-AAAAA play Friday. Melissa Turvy also hit double-figures with 10 points for Peachtree Ridge (9-6, 3-3), while Jazmyn Johnson had six points and five rebounds. Lorrie Cruse added five assists for the Lions in the win over Duluth (11-6, 2-4).

Joi Jones went for a team-high 18 points for Duluth, which trailed Peachtree Ridge 26-14 at the half and cut it to 40-37 in the fourth quarter before Peachtree Ridge pulled away at the free-throw line.

Archer 51, Dacula 31

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer moved to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in Region 8-AAAAA as the Tigers rolled over Dacula 51-31 in Region 8-AAAAA action Friday. Danicka Brown had 14 points and seven steals. Alesha Mann added 13 points and four steals for the Tigers, who had 21 steals as a team in the game. Madison Newby chipped in 11 points, four steals and four assists. Morgan Jackson had 10 points. Marissa Jordan added seven rebounds and four assists for the Tigers. Dacula got eight points from Anna Machovec to lead the Falcons' attack.

Brookwood 59, Central 47

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Courtney Gardner went for a game-high 24 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds as Brookwood took a 59-47 win over Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAA on Friday. Rebecca Walker added 19 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocks for Brookwood (8-10, 6-3) while Nicole Plaisted grabbed nine rebounds. Brookwood sealed the deal by hitting 12 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Central (8-8, 6-3) was led by Nia Hardy's 15 points while Caryn Ivey had 14 and Taja Latimore added 11.

Collins Hill 34, Mt. View 32

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Emily Buck sparked the Collins Hill offense with 16 points as the Eagles held on for a 34-32 win over Mountain View in Region 7-AAAAA on Friday. Bria Virgil had 12 points and Aneysa Williams added seven points for Mountain View (9-7, 2-4), but missed a last-second shot as the Bears played their fifth game in a row without senior Tynisha Bledsoe.

St. Francis 54, Providence Christian 27

LILBURN -- Despite 17 points from Erika Gotfredson, Providence Christian fell 54-27 to St. Francis in Region 5-A play Friday. Providence drops to 5-10 overall 0-2 in the region.
