PREP ROUNDUP: Meadowcreek boys win at buzzer

CONYERS -- Meadowcreek's Quienton McBride had not done much Saturday night against Salem. But he did everything he needed to do right before the buzzer. McBride hit the game-winning layup as the buzzer went off to give the Mustangs a 57-55 win in the Havoc on the Hardwood showcase event. McBride's layup gave him seven points on the night. He also dished out four assists for the Mustangs (3-9). Adrian Hicks had a team-high 16 points, while Terrance Smelling added nine points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shiloh 56, Peachtree Ridge 46

SUWANEE -- Robert Carter had a double-double as Shiloh took care of Peachtree Ridge 56-46 on Saturday. Carter scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Evyn Smith led the Generals (13-2) with 15 points. Benny Johnson had a game-high 16 points for the Lions.

Hebron 74, Tallulah Falls 29

TALLULAH FALLS -- Hebron Christian didn't have much trouble with Tallulah Falls in a 74-29 win Saturday. Dylan Schulte scored 14 points for the Lions (7-19, 6-1). Tyler Brasfield added 12 points.

Collins Hill 53, McIntosh 43

PEACHTREE CITY -- Collins Hill beat McIntosh 53-43 on Saturday. Connor Iverson scored 24 points to lead the Eagles (7-10).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Parkview 63, Salem 43

CONYERS -- Parkview stayed unbeaten by hammering Salem, ranked No. 9 in AAAA, 63-43 on Saturday in the Havoc on the Hardwood showcase. Marissa Mandeldove scored 24 points to lead the Panthers (18-0). Erika Joseph added 12 points.

Grayson 55, Butler 38

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson won its second game of the year by beating Butler (Augusta) 55-38 on Saturday. Sadie Caudell scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Rams (2-12). Sopuluchi Okoye added nine points. Miranda Clark and Tiara James led Grayson's defense, which played its best game of the year.

Peachtree Ridge 56, Shiloh 37

SUWANEE -- Melissa Turvy scored 13 points to lead Peachtree Ridge to a 56-37 win over Shiloh on Saturday. Lorrie Cruse added 11 points for the Lions (10-6). Mahrie Bowman added eight points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Central 45, Winder-Barrow 22

WINDER -- Taja Latimore filled up her stat sheet as Central Gwinnett beat Winder-Barrow 45-22 Saturday. Latimore had nine points, six rebounds, eight steals, three blocks and three assists for the Black Knights (9-8). Nia Hardy had a team-high 15 points, while Alex Frazier added eight points and four steals.

Hebron 50, Tallulah Falls 42

TALLULAH FALLS -- Hebron Christian improved to .500 in Region 8-A with a 50-42 win over Tallulah Falls on Saturday. Amber Skidgel dropped in 22 points to lead the Lions (10-8, 3-3). Kristian Martinez scored nine points, while Taryn Higgins had eight points.

WRESTLING

Meadowcreek wins Ga. wrestling HOF tournament

NORCROSS -- Meadowcreek took first place on its home floor in the inaugural Georgia Wrestling Hall of Fame tournament Saturday. The tournament was an open tournament commissioned by USA Wrestling. The Mustangs took first place with 94 points, while the Mountain View club team took second with 42 points. Malik Saunders (98 pounds), Alex Steele (160), O.G. Harden (170) and Ryan Moore (182) won their weight class for Meadowcreek. Adam Flatt (106) took first for Mountain View. He was named the tournament's most outstanding wrestler. Harden took home the most pins awards. He pinned all three of his opponents in a combined time of 8:19.
