Verlon Etheridge Greeson, age 88, of Dacula, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. She is survived by her three children; Gail (Chip) Gorisek of Winder, Teddy (Janet) Greeson and Frankie (Susan) Greeson all of Dacula; four grandchildren, Nick Davis of Lula, Derek Greeson, Chase Greeson and Travis Greeson all of Dacula; four great grandchildren, Taylor Davis, Christian Davis, Troy Davis and Emma Davis; two sisters, Janice Woodard of Douglasville, Linda (Jerry) Upton of SC; two brothers, Donnis (Janice) Etheridge of Auburn, Pete (Martha) Etheridge of Hoschton; sisters-in-law, Peggy Etheridge of Hartwell, Betty Chilton, Bonnie Still both of Dacula, Etta (Bobby) Wages and Mary (Horace) Johnson all of Lawrenceville; brothers-in-law, Millard Sims, Doug (Helen) Greeson all of Dacula, and Roy Emerson of Lawrenceville, numerous, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Verlon was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Troy T. Greeson; parents, sister, Jean Sims, and brothers, F.H. Etheridge and Ray Etheridge. Mrs. Greeson was born in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on January 5, 1924 to Minnesota “Minnie” Butler Etheridge and Floyd Columbus Etheridge. She graduated from the old Dacula High School and worked for many years at the Genesco Shoe Shop and the Gwinnett County Tag Department. She was a talented seamstress serving so many people in the Gwinnett County area. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandchildren, great grandmother, sister, friend and member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Dacula. She loved to cook for her family and friends, especially her famous “Verlon’s Brunswick Stew.” This gentle, kind lady will be missed by all that knew her over the years. The Service Celebrating the Life of Verlon E. Greeson will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 o’clock at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Mrs. Greeson placed in state at the church at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Jerry Brown will officiate. Interment Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
