LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett police are seeking public assistance in catching a serial armed robber who's struck at least 13 times across the county in a little more than a month.
Since Nov. 30, the suspect has primarily targeted cell phone stores, but has also robbed two appliance stores, a tobacco shop and attempted a robbery at a Days Inn, said Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith.
Robberies have occurred in unincorporated Gwinnett and the cities of Lilburn, Lawrenceville and Norcross, where police believe the robber is behind three separate heists.
"The suspect frequently went into these locations under the pretense of having business there," Smith said. "He usually returned a short time later and conducted the robbery at gunpoint."
Police describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male, 6 feet tall and about 190 pounds, with short black hair, thin mustache and goatee. He usually wears a baseball cap, Smith said.
His vehicle is described as a 2006 to 2010 silver Dodge Charger with a sunroof and stock chrome wheels.
"The suspect has been seen fleeing the scene in a silver Dodge Charger on multiple occasions," Smith said.
The suspect has used a handgun in each robbery and should be considered armed and dangerous, Smith said.
Police ask anyone who encounters the suspect to call 911. With tips, contact Gwinnett police detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-557-TIPS or www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
