WINDER -- Winder's new mayor David Maynard and new councilmen Travis Singley and Larry Evans took their seats Tuesday evening during the first city council meeting since the November election and official swearings-in on Jan. 5.
During the meeting, Maynard announced that four official committees have been established, each headed by city council members. They include Finance, Planning and Development, Public Safety and Utilities, Each committee will have a set meeting date and time each month.
City Finance Director Leslie Henderson announced Tuesday that the city's quarterly financial reports will soon be available online. Her announcement was in response to council's request that a report similar to the annual award-winning citizen-friendly report be available more often.City's Embassy Walk sewer project to commenceCondemnation has been approved for the Embassy Walk sewer improvement project. Soon, the city of Winder will begin work on a sewer project within the right-of-way of several streets, a map outlining which can be found on the city's website, www.cityofwinder.com.
