The Gwinnett Heat basketball team, a Gwinnett County Public Schools' Adapted Sports program, won its first two games of the season this past weekend. The Heat defeated the Houston County Sharks 23-14 in the opener and 21-6 in the second game.
Martinez Johnson led the Heat, scoring 18 points in Game 1 and 16 points in Game 2. Brice Croxton (three points in each game), Stephen Hobson (two points in Game 1) and Rony Jacob (two points in Game 2) also contributed on offense.
Keitra Douglas played strong defense in both games.
The Heat's next games are Jan. 21 at the Monarch School in Duluth. The doubleheader begins with an 11 a.m. matchup with the DeKalb Silver Streaks and a 1 p.m. game with the West Georgia Wolverines.
