PREP ROUNDUP: Shiloh boys top Central for fifth straight win

Shiloh's Robert Carter logged a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds Tuesday night in guiding the Generals 57-43 past Central Gwinnett. The win, the fifth in a row for Shiloh, bumped the top-ranked Generals' record up to 12-1 overall and 8-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Trayvon Reed also posted a double-double for Shiloh with 13 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks. Brian Thompson also pitched in for Shiloh with eight points and seven rebounds.

Leading scorers for Central were Darius Joell with 11 points and Eman Westmoreland with nine points.


South 67, Brookwood 61

SNELLVILLE -- Logan Adams of South Gwinnett logged 15 points and 12 rebounds on Tuesday in helping the Comets to a 67-61 win over Brookwood. South improved to 6-6 overall and 4-4 in Region 8-AAAAA.

South also received 14 points from Simeon Dennis and 13 points from Kyle Wright.

Brookwood also had three players score in double figures, led by 14 from Kendall Joseph. Alex Drag and Malcolm Hannah each finished with 10 points.

Archer 80, Grayson 64

LOGANVILLE -- Archer had five players score in double figures Tuesday night as the Tigers defeated Grayson 80-64 in Region 8-AAAAA action.

Leading scorer for the Tigers (11-5, 6-2) was Nafis Floyd with 14 points. Randall Smith followed with 12 points, while Kelvin Nwanze added 11 points. Bryan Hamlet and Tramique Anderson rounded out the scoring for Archer with 10 points each.

Grayson's Ryan Carter led the Rams with 17 points.

Peachtree Ridge 74, Mountain View 44

SUWANEE -- Four Peachtree Ridge players scored in double digits, led by 17 points from Devon Hill, on Tuesday night as the Lions eased past Mountain View 74-44 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Other scorers for the Lions (8-6, 3-2) were Rawlings Okivie with 13, Benny Johnson with 11 and Cole Rives with 10.

Mountain View was led by 13 points from Andre Joseph.

Collins Hill 59, Duluth 43

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill upped its record to 5-10 overall and 2-4 in Region 7-AAAAA Tuesday night with a 59-43 win over Duluth.

Connor Iverson finished with 15 points and six assists to lead the Eagles, while Devin Mitchell added 14 points. John Carlos Reyes also chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds for Collins Hill.

Flowery Branch 44, Apalachee 35

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Trailing 26-11 after three quarters, Apalachee put 24 points on the board in the fourth, but came up just short, falling 44-35 to Flowery Branch in a subregion 8-AAAAA North battle.

Cameron Blakley tallied 17 points to lead Apalachee (4-9, 1-1).

Lanier 60, Oconee Co. 46

WATKINSVILLE -- Jordan Davis scored 15 points Tuesday night in helping Lanier to a 60-46 win over Oconee County in Region 8-AAA.

Austin Wood added 11 points and six rebounds for the Longhorns, while Michael Bryant chipped in with 11 points. The win boosted Lanier to 10-8 overall and 2-3 in the region.

Hebron 43, Prince Avenue 29

DACULA -- Hebron's defense turned in a strong night on Tuesday as the Lions downed Prince Avenue 43-29 in Region 8-A.

Offensively, Hebron (5-10, 4-1) was led by Dylan Schulte with 18 points and Tyler Matthews with 10 points.


South 42, Brookwood 40

SNELLVILLE -- South Gwinnett's Yvonna Dunkley compiled 20 points, seven rebounds and seven steals on Tuesday night as the Comets rallied to knock off Region 8-AAAAA rival Brookwood 42-40. South trailed 20-12 at the half before surging in the second half for the win.

South (10-5, 6-2) also received a strong game from Alysia Johnson with nine points in the second half.

Brookwood (7-10, 5-3) was led by 17 points from Rebecca Walker and 12 points from Courtney Gardner.

Archer 55, Grayson 18

LOGANVILLE -- Archer improved to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in Region 8-AAAAA Tuesday night with a 55-18 win over Grayson.

Leading Archer was Alesha Mann with 16 points and three steals. Madison Newby chipped in with nine points, seven assists and five steals, while Kayla Rogers finished with six points, four assists and three steals. Archer received points from nine different players.

Berkmar 49, Dacula 43

DACULA -- Berkmar found itself in a 24-12 hole at halftime but climbed its way out to post a 49-43 win over Dacula on Tuesday night in a Region 8-AAAAA game.

Daijah Cooke was the top scorer for Berkmar (5-11, 3-5) with 16 points. Amy Adame chipped in with eight points for the Patriots, while Jataja Washington finished with 11 rebounds and seven points.

Joni Weatherspoon led Dacula with 14 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots, while Taryn Anthony added 12 points and four assists.

Duluth 55, Collins Hill 53

SUWANEE -- Duluth received 21 points from Katie Powell on Tuesday night as the Wildcats held on for a tight 55-53 win over Collins Hill in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Duluth (11-5, 2-3) also picked up 13 points from Joi Jones and 12 points from Tajai Pearson.

Norcross 73, Meadowcreek 28

NORCROSS -- Norcross kept its Region 7-AAAAA record unblemished at 6-0 on Tuesday night as the Blue Devils, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class AAAAA, cruised 73-28 over Meadowcreek.

Diamond DeShields was the leading scorer for Norcross (12-2 overall) with 17 points, while Shayla Cooper followed with 16 points. Top rebounder for Norcross was Jasmine Kemp with eight, while Sierra Butler provided a boost off the bench with 11 points, six rebounds and four blocks.

Courtney Fields had eight points and three steals for Meadowcreek (4-12, 0-5), while Freddie Banks added eight points and seven rebounds.

Central 44, Shiloh 39

SNELLVILLE -- Central Gwinnett led 40-16 late in the third and nearly let it slip away as the Black Knights had to hold on for a 44-39 win over Shiloh on Tuesday night.

Taja Latimore scored 10 points to lead Central (8-7, 6-2), while Lexus Travis added nine rebounds with six points.

Peachtree Ridge 59, Mountain View 32

SUWANEE -- Mahrie Bowman of Peachtree Ridge hit 6 of 7 shots from the field on Tuesday night and finished with 13 points and eight rebounds to guide the Lions to a 59-32 win over Mountain View. The win improved the Lions to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Stephanie Amichia added 12 points and eight rebounds for Peachtree Ridge, while Melissa Turvy added 11 points. Lorie Cruse also helped with six rebounds and six assists.


Meadowcreek wins two of three

PEACHTREE CITY -- Meaodwcreek took two of three matches, beating East Coweta 48-27 and McIntosh 66-14 on Tuesday night at McIntosh High School. Meadowcreek's bid for a perfect night was thwarted with a 46-24 loss to Brookwood.

Meadowcreek had three wrestlers go undefeated in Alex Steele (160 pounds), O.G. Harden (170) and Ryan Moore (182), who all won their matches by pinfall.
