DACULA -- Re-elected councilwoman Sue Robinson and newly elected councilman Hubert Wells were sworn into office during Thursday's City Council meeting. City attorney Dennis Still performed the ceremony.
Robinson was also unanimously elected mayor pro tem.
Rezoning approved
Approximately 3 acres located at 1271 Harbins Road in Dacula were rezoned from office/industrial use to agricultural use Thursday, largely in an attempt to give property owner Lloyd deLatour relief from the tax burden of the O&I zoning. The property was originally zoned for agricultural use before 2004.
Both the city's planning commission and staff recommended approval of the move.
"We feel like he's proven his hardship," said city planner Joey Murphy.
Lloyd deLatour plans to build an auxiliary building, likely a sports center, for the students at Great Beginnings day care/school on Harbins Road.
No one voiced opposition to the rezoning on Thursday.
