Carlton Gerald Hammett, age 76, of Lilburn, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. Interment will follow in Lilburn Memorial Gardens. A Georgia native, Mr. Hammett owned and operated Gerald’s Auto Repair in Lilburn for 35 years. He was a member of North Metro First Baptist Church, Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #421 F&AM, the Yaarab Shrine Temple and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Grace Freeman Hammett of Lilburn; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Keith Garner of Lilburn; grandchildren, Amber Seay of Sandy Springs and Autumn Garner of Lilburn; brothers, Morris Hammett of Monticello and Wayne Hammett of Auburn; six sisters, Frieda, Margie, Linda, Beverly, Juanita and June. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. (770) 564-2726
