PREP ROUNDUP: Dacula's Morse grabs 22 rebounds in win over Parkview

DACULA -- Anthony Morse of Dacula scored 14 points and grabbed 22 rebounds Tuesday night in helping the Falcons to a 65-62 win over Parkview in Region 8-AAAAA boys basketball.

Brandon Goodson was the leading scorer for the Falcons with 16 points, while Bryson Burlong helped out with 11 points. The win moved Dacula to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the region.

Parkview's Darius Marshall led all scorers with 18 points, while Andre Chatfield finished with 17 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

South 73, Grayson 57

SNELLVILLE -- Simeon Dennis of South Gwinnett tallied 34 points and eight rebounds on Tuesday night in leading the Comets 73-57 over Grayson for a Region 8-AAAAA win.

Two more Comet players helped out with double-doubles in Logan Adams (19 points, 14 rebounds) and Montrell Marshall (12 points, 10 rebounds). The win pushed South's record to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the region.

Grayson was led by a 17-point night from Derrick Pope.

Shiloh 67, Brookwood 43

SNELLVILLE -- Shiloh improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in Region 8-AAAAA on Tuesday with a 67-43 win over Brookwood.Leading scorer for the Generals was Jordan Gaither, who had 12 points. Robert Carter added 10 points, while Brian Beverly and Trayvon Reed each chipped in with seven points.

Brookwood's top scorer was Terrance Higginbotham with nine points.

Peachtree Ridge 57, Meadowcreek 39

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge turned in a solid defensive effort on Tuesday as the Lions defeated Meadowcreek 57-39 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Three players for the Lions (6-6, 1-2) scored in double figures, led by 12 points from Cole Romaguera. Rawlings Okivie added 14 points with Brandon Jack finishing with 10 points.

David Mensah scored 12 for Meadowcreek.

Mill Creek 56, Duluth 38

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek received offensive contributions from all 11 players on its roster as the Hawks downed Duluth 56-38 on Tuesday in Region 7-AAAAA.

Jalen Bracey and Paul Evans shared top-scoring honors for Mill Creek (12-1, 3-0) with nine points each.

North 70, Collins Hill 58

SUWANEE -- Chris Bolden led North Gwinnett in scoring with 18 points on Tuesday night in leading the Bulldogs past Collins Hill 70-58 in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Cameron Calhoun added 15 points for North, while T.J. Howard kicked in with 10 points.

Lanier 65, North Oconee 54

BOGART -- Three Lanier players scored in double digits Tuesday night as the Longhorns beat North Oconee 65-54 in a non-region game.

Andre Irvin finished with 13 points and four rebounds to lead Lanier (8-7, 0-2), while M.J. Bryant added 10 points and nine boards. Zac Winzurk added 10 points, while Austin Wood led the team in rebounds with 13.

Providence 67, Holy Innocents' 43

LILBURN -- Charlie Scott of Providence poured in 23 points on Tuesday in leading the Stars past Holy Innocents' 67-43 in Region 5-A.

Kareem Adekunle added 15 points for the Stars, while Steven Kleinschmidt added 10 points. The win boosted Providence to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the region.

Wesleyan 52, St. Pius 48

ATLANTA -- Wesleyan's Shane Smith scored 26 points Tuesday night in leading the Wolves to a 52-48 win over St. Pius in a non-region battle.

Will Clifton helped in the win with 14 points. Wesleyan improved to 7-5.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Parkview 54, Dacula 39

DACULA -- Parkview kept its unbeaten record intact on Tuesday with a 56-39 win over Dacula in a Region 8-AAAAA game.

Three Panthers (14-0, 6-0) scored 10 points each in A.J. Jefferson, Genesis Perryman and Erika Joseph.

Dacula (4-9, 2-3) was led by 10 points from Anazjah Mayes and nine points and six rebounds from Joni Weatherspoon.

Brookwood 61, Shiloh 34

SNELLVILLE -- Rebecca Walker of Brookwood led all players with 21 points on Tuesday in the Broncos' 61-34 win over Shiloh in Region 8-AAAAA action.

Brookwood (7-8, 5-1) also received 13 points from Rachel Hellwig and 10 points from Courtney Gardner.

Uche Ibebunjo led Shiloh with nine points, while Raquel Cranshaw finished with eight points.

South 59, Grayson 45

SNELLVILLE -- Samantha McCombs of South Gwinnett led all scorers with 17 points Tuesday night in leading the Comets 59-45 over Grayson in Region 8-AAAAA action. South's record improved to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the region.

South also received 11 points from Neisha Henderson and 10 points with six assists from Yvonna Dunkley.

Grayson was led by 13 points from Natasia Clark and 11 points from Tiara James.

Mill Creek 51, Duluth 50

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek trailed Duluth by six points at the half before putting together a solid second half to clip the Wildcats 51-50 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Mill Creek (10-3, 2-1) had a balanced scoring attack with 12 points each from Nadiya Miller, Tamarr Williams and Jasmine Carter. Carter also finished with six rebounds.

Duluth (10-4, 1-2) was led by a huge game from Katie Powell, who finished with 24 points, while Joi Jones added 16 points.

North 63, Collins Hill 31

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett stayed unbeaten in region play with a 63-31 win over Collins Hill on Tuesday night, running North's record to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Lexie Brown had 19 points and eight assists to lead North, while Ariel Johnson followed with 17 points. Alyssa Munlyn also helped in the win with 10 points.

For Collins Hill, Emily Buck was the top scorer with 11 points.

Peachtree Ridge 58, Meadowcreek 33

SUWANEE -- Peachtree Ridge picked up its first Region 7-AAAAA win of the season on Tuesday night as the Lions toppled Meadowcreek 58-33. The win improved the Lions to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the region.

Top scorer for Peachtree Ridge was Gabby Cole with 15 points. Melissa Turvy added 12 points for the victors, while Stephanie Amichia chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.

Angel Alexander of Meadowcreek led all players in scoring with 17 points.
