GAB: Local man wins new Jeep

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brian Alston, a local computer technician, recently won a brand-new Jeep Compass through the instant game Jeep Outdoor Adventure.

Alston, 34, purchased the winning ticket at the AA Food Mart, 2339 Lawrenceville Highway.

He said he didn't scratch the ticket until he got home. "I was in a dark area, and I couldn't believe it. I held it to the light, and then went back to the store, and the clerk confirmed it," Alston said.

He received the keys to his 2012 Jeep Compass at Stone Mountain Chrysler Jeep Dodge on Monday.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp., has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program.

More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
