PREP ROUNDUP: Ordini, Hawks lacrosse keep rolling with win over North

SUWANEE -- Mill Creek's girls lacrosse team remained undefeated with a 14-5 victory Tuesday at North Gwinnett.

Alexis Ordini, the county's leading scorer, had seven goals to lead the Hawks (5-0). Teammates Mackenzie Fagioli (two goals, one assist) and Rachel Gann (two goals) also sparked the offense, while goalie Chandler Griffin made seven saves.

North (3-2) got three goals from Lauren Aycock and 11 saves from Victoria Del Nero. Erica Smith (one goal, four draw controls) and Sylvia Chou (one goal, one assist, two draw controls) also played well for North.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Archer 13, Norcross 12

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brittany Gary's game-winning goal with 14 seconds left lifted Archer to a 13-12 victory over Norcross on Tuesday. Gary had a pair of goals and Morgan McCalla led the Tigers (2-3) with six goals.

Pamela Tvrdik had 25 saves as Archer's goalie.

BOYS LACROSSE

North 7, Mill Creek 3

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett got a single goal from seven different players Tuesday night in a 7-3 win over Mill Creek. James Shimkus set the tempo and defensive standout Aaron Amin had a goal, while goalie Alex Riggins made 11 saves for the Bulldogs (3-0).

Norcross 14, Archer 8

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Norcross boys lacrosse improved to 2-1 on the season with a 14-8 win Tuesday night at Archer. Chandler Schaefer led the Blue Devils with four goals while Cam Coval and Chris Sanders scored three each.

St. Pius 8, Collins Hill 2

SUWANEE -- Holin Axley and Abe Heller scored goals, but Collins Hill lost to St. Pius 8-2 in boys lacrosse Tuesday.

GAC 15, Pace Academy 8

ATLANTA -- Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Pace Academy 15-8 Tuesday night behind six goals and an assist from Whit Anderson.

The Spartans (2-0) also got big days from Eric Reynolds (four goals, one assist), Peter Whiteneck (four goals, one assist), Sam Harte (three goals) and Courtland Jones (one goal). GAC's Stewart Butler made 15 saves at goalie.

BOYS SOCCER

Peachtree Ridge 2, GAC 1

NORCROSS -- Peachtree Ridge, ranked third in Class AAAAA, went on the road and defeated the No. 3 team in AA, Greater Atlanta Christian, 2-1 in boys soccer Tuesday night.

Jeremy Rector and Juan Herrera scored goals for the Lions (3-1) and Jordan Davis added an assist. Daryl Sack played well in goal for Peachtree Ridge. GAC (2-2) got its lone goal late from Will Hamryka.

Mountain View 3, Central 2

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View's boys soccer team improved to 3-1 Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over Central Gwinnett. Dustin Stone, David Illescas and Jonathan Sayers scored a goal each for the Bears.

Collins Hill 7, Berkmar 1

LILBURN -- Berkmar jumped ahead 1-0 Tuesday night, but Collins Hill answered back in a big way for a 7-1 victory.

Emmanuel Raji scored three goals for the Eagles (3-2) and Martin Sedarri had a pair of goals, while Amiri Abraham and Zach Lane scored once each.

Norcross 2, Woodstock 1

WOODSTOCK -- Norcross (3-2) picked up a road win Tuesday night over Woodstock, 2-1. Austin Johnson and Juan Martinez scored the Norcross goals.

Dacula 2, West Hall 1

DACULA -- Joe Efford had a goal and an assist to lead Dacula's boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over West Hall on Tuesday night. Tyler Moore also had a goal and Mason Davenport added an assist for the Falcons (2-3).

Meadowcreek 3, Tri-Cities 0

EAST POINT -- Darrell Walters scored two goals and Chris Morgan scored once as Meadowcreek blanked Tri-Cities 3-0 on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Mirsha De La Cruz also had a shutout for the Mustangs (3-0).

Roswell 2, Wesleyan 0

NORCROSS -- Roswell scored twice in the second half for a 2-0 victory Tuesday at Wesleyan, which fell to 2-1-1 on the season.

GIRLS SOCCER

GAC 2, Peachtree Ridge 0

NORCROSS -- Rachel Garcia played a part in both goals Tuesday as Class AA No. 2 Greater Atlanta Christian toppled AAAAA's 10th-ranked team, Peachtree Ridge, 2-0.

The Spartans (3-0), in addition to Garcia's goal and assist, got a goal from Heather Ferrari and a shutout from goalkeeper Elizabeth White.

Meadowcreek 3, Tri-Cities 0

EAST POINT -- Meadowcreek's girls soccer team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, beating Tri-Cities 3-0.

Rachel Hill, Rebekka Arocho and Janice Ramirez scored goals for the Mustangs (1-1-2) and Angela Lara picked up the shutout at goalkeeper.

Mountain View 2, Central 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Samantha Moore scored both goals as Mountain View defeated Central Gwinnett 2-1 Tuesday night. The Bears improved to 2-2 on the season.

Collins Hill 8, Berkmar 0

LILBURN -- Mariah Dickey had three goals and two assists, sparking Collins Hill to an 8-0 win at Berkmar on Tuesday.

Paige Hoover contributed two goals and an assist, while the Eagles (3-2) also got single goals from Amanda Norris, Kelsey Lawrence and Desiree Bowen. Halla Gibreen and Kamilah Talbi shared the shutout at goalkeeper.

Dacula 4, West Hall 1

DACULA -- With the help of three goals by freshman Makayla Clack, Dacula defeated West Hall 4-1 on Tuesday night.

The Falcons (3-1-1) also got a goal and an assist from Ruva Chimedza and assists from Valeria Bermeo, Lauren Vick and Tyler Moore.

White County 2, Lanier 1

CLEVELAND -- Lanier's girls soccer team lost 2-1 Tuesday night at White County. Maddie Corley scored the only goal for the Longhorns (3-2).

Roswell 3, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS -- Hannah Duane made 16 saves Tuesday, but Class A Wesleyan gave up two own goals on a slick field and suffered its first loss of the season -- 3-1 to AAAAA Roswell.

Savannah Newman scored the Wolves' lone goal off a Caroline Robertson assist. Wesleyan is now 2-1-1 on the season.

BASEBALL

Grayson 4, Wesleyan 2

NORCROSS -- Grayson's baseball team picked up a win in its season opener Tuesday night, defeating Wesleyan 4-2.

Relief pitcher Griffen Ebel picked up the victory and Jack Banda got the save. Banda also was 1-for-3 with an RBI. The Rams' other standouts were Chris Erwin (1-for-2, double, run, stolen base), Taylor Allum (1-for-2) and Carter Collins (1-for-2, run).

Wesleyan's Jamie Stark pitched five innings and allowed three hits. He struck out five.

South Gwinnett 5, Walnut Grove 0

LOGANVILLE -- Jake Mullinax was impressive on the mound and South Gwinnett defeated Walnut Grove 5-0 on Tuesday. Mullinax pitched six scoreless innings, allowed three hits and struck out seven batters.

Adrian Martinez and Ryan Patterson each went 2-for-3 for South (2-2).

Providence 3, GAC 1

NORCROSS -- Erich Stahl's pitching and hitting led the way as Providence Christian defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 3-1 Tuesday night.

Stahl was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts in four innings, allowing just a single hit, and also hit a two-run home run in the second inning. John Bailey's RBI single in the sixth padded the Providence (1-2) lead and Josh Carter pitched three innings of relief to earn the save.

Hebron 4, Madison County 3

DANIELSVILLE -- P.J. Westbury drove in the game-winning run in the ninth inning as Hebron escape with a 4-3 victory Tuesday night at Madison County.

Mason Felt struck out 10 batters and didn't allow a run in six innings, but got a no-decision. Jordan Hillyer was the winning pitcher, striking out five in two innings. Lew Stephens (triple, two runs) and Robby Stephens (two key sacrifice bunts) also were big on offense for the Lions (2-1).

BOYS GOLF

Lions slip by Norcross

DULUTH -- Michael Chong's 1-under-par 35 led Peachtree Ridge to a narrow 156-157 win over Norcross on Tuesday at Berkeley Hills Country Club. Clay Trocchio and Zach Healy each shot 36 to lead Norcross.

Wesleyan edges Providence

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Cody Solomon shot 37 Tuesday at Northwood Country Club as Wesleyan edged Providence Christian 159-161 in boys golf. Providence's Patrick Dreher was the day's low medalist with a 36.

GIRLS GOLF

GAC's Tardy ties Gwinnett Open record

WINDER -- Greater Atlanta Christian's Bailey Tardy tied the Gwinnett Open scoring record this past weekend, helping the Spartans to the overall team championship at The Chimneys Golf Club.

Tardy had 43 points in the modified stableford format, matching the tourney record set by Mill Creek grad Emilie Burger (now playing at Georgia), and the Spartans totaled 86 points to finish atop the 16-team field.

Mill Creek was second with 73 points and Brookwood took third with 68.

Mill Creek beats N. Oconee

DACULA -- Katie Plummer shot 36 Tuesday at Hamilton Mill Golf Club, leading Mill Creek to a 77-94 win over North Oconee. The Hawks also got a 41 from Garnett Glaser.

Lions top Norcross

DULUTH -- Peachtree Ridge, led by Sidney Hickman's 48, defeated Norcross 101-110 Tuesday in girls golf at Berkeley Hills Country Club. Camille Streeter and Elizabeth Waid each shot 55 for Norcross.
