ATLANTA (AP) -- An administrator from the Oklahoma higher education system has been named the chief academic officer for the University System of Georgia.
Chancellor Hank Huckaby announced Monday that Houston Davis will start the job May 1. Davis has been the vice chancellor for academic affairs at the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for the last five years.
Prior to that, he was the associate vice chancellor for academic affairs for the Tennessee Board of Regents and was a faculty member at Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tenn.
Davis was chosen from a national search. He will oversee academic programs and planning for the university system's 35 campuses.
