Gwinnett Daily Post
Gwinnett County officers were called to the BP gas station near Hewatt Road and Stone Mountain Highway at about 4 p.m. Saturday where the victim and a friend were sitting in a Ford Mustang. According to an incident report obtained Thursday, the victim's friend first told police he was driving into the Orion at Killian Creek Apartments, about a mile away from the gas station, when he got a phone call from his friend saying he had been shot.
"(The friend) then changed his story to that he was in the complex and drove up and saw (the victim) had been shot," the report said.
He was transporting the victim -- who had a "visible gunshot wound to his left stomach area" -- to the hospital when he called 911 and pulled over at the BP, he told police.
The victim, a male whose address does not match that of the apartment complex, said only that a light-skinned black male with a black hoodie walked up to him and shot him.
Both men were vague in describing the actual scene of the incident, police said. No physical crime scene has been discovered by investigators.
The "victim was not forthcoming and the location was never found," police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.
Investigators ruled out the Mustang as a possible scene of the shooting.
A third man, saying he was "really close" to the victim and that he had gotten a call that he had been shot, later arrived at the gas station.
