LILBURN -- Greater Atlanta Christian School's fourth-grade Girl Scout Troop is hosting a Hollywood Oscar-themed father-daughter dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Admission for the event is $20 per family.

Troop 1337 is in the Evergreen Service Unit based in Lilburn.

St. John Neumann Catholic Church is located at 801 Tom Smith Road, Lilburn.

Holiday Inn completes large renovation

BUFORD -- The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau is congratulating the Holiday Inn Express and Suite Mall of Georgia in Buford on an extensive $500,000 renovation to the nine-year-old property.

Locals are invited to attend the celebration during a ribbon-cutting event from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at 2499 Satellite Blvd., Buford.

Renovations included new "Sweet Dreams" bedding and furniture packages (flat screen televisions, modernized bathroom decor and plush carpeting) in all guest rooms and suites. The lobby, breakfast area and front desk have been updated to reflect a more contemporary look.

The new 1,200-square-foot meeting room offers new decor and AV equipment. The hotel also offers free WiFi throughout the property.

Built in 2003, the property has 79 rooms and suites.

Patsy Thomas, director of sales and marketing, said Buford is "really beginning to make a name for itself with everything from the mall to the new businesses in the area. Our hotel is happy to serve Buford's hotel needs and we offer the most meeting space of any hotel in our area."

Georgia Natural Gas donates $1.1 million to schools

ATLANTA -- Georgia Natural Gas announced recently that it has donated more than $1.1 million to Georgia schools through its fundraising program, TrueBlue Schools.

Locally, Norcross High School received $12,765 in donations, and Level Creek Elementary got $11,860.

"We are particularly proud of the financial support this innovative program already has provided to schools," said Georgia Natural Gas CEO Mike Braswell. "Consumers seem to appreciate the program's simplicity. We are pleased that so many of our customers want to support their local schools."

When a consumer becomes a customer of GNG and decides to participate in the program, a $5 donation is made to the school of his or her choice every month. Currently, 1,007 of the 2,326 schools in the GNG service area earn donations from TrueBlue Schools.
