ATLANTA -- Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday that Georgia has formed a partnership with Google to bring free websites to small businesses across the state.
Deal said the initiative is aimed at helping small businesses grow and find new customers. Participating businesses can go to www.georgiagetonline.com and develop a free website, as well as free tools, training and other resources.
State officials estimate that more than half of small businesses in Georgia do not have a website.
"One of the best ways we can help our economy expand is to help Georgia businesses increase their visibility online," Deal said in a news release.
Google is partnering with Intuit, an online business website tool, to offer easy-to-build websites, a customized domain name and free web hosting for one year for small businesses. Google's director of small business engagement, Scott Levitan, said the program is aimed at businesses that have avoided building a website because they are worried it's too difficult or expensive.
"The perception that getting online is complex, costly and time-consuming has prevented many Georgia small businesses from taking the first step," Levitan said. "This program makes it fast, easy and free for businesses to get online."
Georgia joins a host of other states -- from Kansas to Texas to Vermont -- and 23 countries working with Google's Get Your Business Online program.

Deal has sold Georgia out. Once you set up the website then you are stuck with Intuit and will have to pay whatever they ask or they will shut you down and keep your domain name. this is the worst possible way to help. I guess the governor Deal is just as ignorant as a bedbug to have helped Intuit get richer at the expense of Georgia businesses.
Geogia business people, DO NOT sign up with this deal. You will regret it forever. Intuit is a very bad company to do business with.

Oh please. Run away - the sky is falling!!! Must the liberals always resort to "fear, fear and - more fear"?? To be honest, the GOP and DEMs both use that stupid tactic. I have used Google for years and have not a single problem. The thing to truly fear is the SOCIALISM that the current inhabitant of the White House is forcing down our collective throat. He has placed progay, promarxist, prosocialist, promuslim and "pro - anything except that which the USA has believed in for the last 236+ years" type people in positions of power during his Marxist reign. What next? He has already told anyone who goes to a church that you can not believe in any manner other than what HE believes. You must abort your babies, you MUST use contraceptives, you MUST have casual/continual sex, you must buy his healtcare plan, you must do everything he says or else you will be ostracized. Gee, I blinked and he took America away. Now, we know what Russia and China have been dealing with for the last 75 to 100 years.
