NORCROSS -- A supplemental grant could help pedestrians and bike riders navigate Indian Trail-Lilburn Road.
The Atlanta Regional Commission awarded a $48,000 grant to the Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District to build on improvements made in the area in the last five years, said Joel Wascher, a spokesman for the business group.
Over the years, the CID has worked to add landscaping and sidewalks to the area, and a managed-access landscaped median is under way.
The study will help in the CID's goal of creating a "neighborhood-oriented, walkable center," Wascher said, by evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the current crossings on Indian Trail.
"The end goal is to create a corridor that is safe and encourages further biking and pedestrian activity," he said. "The study will utilize a highly engaging set of workshops to discuss issues and influences, engage experts in health, urban design and transportation techniques, and consider options for implementation."
