Oswald Brothers Band talks new album, concert

NORCROSS -- Local Christian rock band, Oswald Brothers Band, will be performing a record release concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church for their freshly completed second EP, titled "Live, Life, Loving." The three-song EP will be available for download on iTunes on Feb. 21.

Since their inception in 2007, the three-brother ensemble, Zach, 20, Jacob, 18 and Nich, 17, have worked tirelessly to hone their skills as artists while leading worship at Passion City Church in Atlanta, opening for other big name bands such as Switchfoot, and playing for a full house in the Georgia Dome.

"I feel like since the last EP we've improved to have a more mature sound and really hit the message that we want to send," Zach said of the band's latest effort.

Nich said, "The title of our EP is from our self-proclaimed anthem song that is about not judging or being critical of other people."

Zach said, "It's been a theme or goal for us as a band, and as role models, to be serious about bullying -- people may look different or talk different, but we don't want people to judge or bully others."

While growing up in Duluth, the brothers were inspired by such bands as the Beatles, Rolling Stones and The Police.

"When I was younger, I never thought people would buy our music, so it's amazing that people are buying it and listening," Nich said of the band being on iTunes.

The journey for any band to stardom is never an easy one, and keeping that light shining bright is an even more difficult challenge -- one that the OBB is passionately taking at full speed ahead.

"We've always been under the impression that if you don't enjoy something, then don't do it. We have a great family system of parents, grandparents and friends, which act as a great team to stand behind us and keep us going," Zach said.

After the concert and release of their EP, the band plans to move toward finishing its first full album by the end of summer and released by Christmas.

Upon arrival, all attendees will receive a prerelease copy after paying $5 for admission.

The Simpsonwood United Methodist Church is located at 4500 Jones Bridge Circle in Norcross.
