LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer High School students plan to hold a special event, recognizing the country's past in an observation of Black History Month Feb. 24-25.
The gathering will take attendees on a "living museum" tour through the halls of the high school, where actors will take on the roles of relevant historical figures.
Program Coordinator Valerie Lewis said "it's an edu-tainment type of performance. The school commons area and hallways will be transformed into a museum gallery or display of living statues of music, people and performances to give people a nice glimpse of these ideas and events."
The second component of the event will be a rendition of the "I have a Dream" speech.
Lewis said it's an important exhibition for the community.
"With the growing and changing demographics of Gwinnett County in general, it's a positive to know about each other's culture and history and to take pride in that," Lewis said.
There is a $5 admission fee. The event starts at 7 p.m. Feb. 24; and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 25.

How does a school get permission and no one complains when it holds functions about Black History month, which teaches about slavery, and when a teacher makes math problems containing stuff about slavery, everyone complains? This is another "politically correct" society that we are getting sick of hearing. Everyone should be jumping up and down to fire those school officials holding this and also punish the kids that are supporting it also. What is good for the goose is good for the gander! Take it to the bank!

Better not have anything in the display about slavery or the NAACP will want people fired. According to GCPS slavery never happened,

I'm glad my kids didn't have to go through this kind of propoganda when they were in Gwinnett County schools..

You three are sick. Your attitudes are why we can't be one human race.
