The Hebron goalie made 19 saves in the season opener as the Hebron Lions beat Dacula 1-0 Thursday in a boys soccer match. Blalock's impressive performance between the pipes stood up with the help of Andrew Thompson. He ripped in Hebron's (1-0) only goal on a free kick.
Peachtree Ridge 1, Brookwood 0 PK
SUWANEE -- A night after losing to Harrison in a shoot out, Peachtree Ridge won one with penalty kicks. The Lions knocked off Brookwood 1-0 in Thursday by winning the shoot out 4-3. Jeremy Rector, Kevin Zuluaga, Mike Venzuela and Juan Herrera all scored goals in the shoot out for Peachtree Ridge (1-1). Goalie Daryl Sack made two nice saves.
Buford 7, Dawson Co. 3
BUFORD -- Buford handled Dawson County 7-3 on Thursday. Edgar Villafuerte had a goal and two assists to lead the Wolves (2-0). Matt Bonadies, Jesus DeLeon, Esgardo Arroyo, Elias Gomez, Lionel Burgos and Braulio Jaramillo also scored once each.
Grayson 4, Fayette Co. 1
FAYETTEVILLE -- Austin Arvidson scored two goals to lead Grayson to a 4-1 win over Fayette County Thursday. Alvaro Pava and Mitchell Parker each scored once for the Rams (2-0).
Mountain View 4, Archer 1
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View picked up its first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Archer Thursday. David Illescas had a goal and an assist for the Bears (1-1). Dylan Harper, Jason Sayers, and Eric Nunez also scored a goal each. Steven Ferguson and Kyle Chester each added an assist. Jeff Hollingsworth made seven saves in goal.
Peachtree Ridge 1, Brookwood 0 PK
SUWANEE -- After playing to a 0-0 tie in regulation and two overtime periods, Peachtree Ridge didn't miss in the shoot out and beat Brookwood 5-4 when the Broncos last shot went wide. Alana Dineen, Emily Edmond, Shelby Jennings, Katie Fitton, and Graham Green each scored in the shootout. Cosette Morche earned the shutout in regulation, making five saves for the Lions (1-1).
Mountain View 4, Archer 3 PK
LAWRENCEVILLE -- A'Lea Haphcock scored three times as Mountain View beat Archer 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout. The Bears (1-1) won the shootout 3-1 with goals from Haphcock, Ansley Roley and Shelby Grey. Haphcock scored twice in regulation, while Emily Stout had the other goal.
Providence 5, Central 1
LILBURN -- Kat Slayton scored a couple of goals as Providence beat Central Gwinnett 5-1 Thursday. Anna Bougas added a goal had two assists for the Stars (2-0). Robyn Lowndes also scored once and had an assist. Andrea Latimer scored the other goal and Brooke Kelly had two assists.
Buford 2, Dawson Co. 1
BUFORD -- Buford won its second straight game to open the season with a 2-1 victory over Dawson County Thursday. Melissa Sullivan and Ann Schmidt each scored a goal for the Wolves (2-0).
Grayson 10, Fayette Co. 0
FAYETTEVILLE -- Allison Pickett had a hat trick in Grayson's 10-0 win over Fayette County Thursday. Brittany Bennett and Alexa Webb each scored twice for the Rams (1-1). Allie Dickinson, Ciera Craine, and Brittany Mill each scored once. Goalies Cadye Picklesiner and Tori Denton combined on the shutout.
Hebron 1, Dacula 1
DACULA -- Hebron and Dacula played to a 1-1 draw Thursday. McKenzie Towe scored the lone goal for the Lions (0-0-1). Bianca Clark had the assist.
Hebron wins opener over Dacula
DACULA -- Hebron defeated Dacula 82-86 Thursday to win its season opening match. Darby Gentry shot a 3-over-par round of 39 at Trophy Club of Apalachee to lead the Lions (1-0).
Providence holds off Hebron
DACULA -- Even though darkness caught up with them, Providence edged out Hebron 147-149 Thursday in the season opener at Trophy Club of Apalachee. Rick Rackley was able to finish his round and shot a 2-over-par 38 to lead the Stars. Casey Price shot a 39 for the Lions.
Prince Avenue Christian 3, Hebron 2
DACULA -- Hebron lost its season opener to Prince Avenue Christian 3-2 Thursday. Sara Schmitt won at No. 1 singles, while Savannah Blaylock and Ashley Whitten won at No. 1 doubles for the Lions (0-1).
