Mrs. Willie Nell Franklin Duncan, 83, of Buford, Georgia passed away on February 12, 2012. A true Southern lady, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She spent her life loving God and spreading His love to others. Born in Dacula, GA, on November 23, 1928, she graduated from Dacula High School in 1946. She worked for the Continental Insurance Co. in Atlanta prior to her marriage to Roy D. Duncan in 1949. Following a family move to Jacksonville, Florida in 1964, Nell worked as an administrative assistant at Jacksonville University. When she and Roy returned to Georgia in 1978, they settled in the Buford area, and Nell worked as a secretary at Ebasco Services. Over the years following her retirement in 1993, you could find her singing in the Silvertones Choir, teaching Sunday School or delivering Meals on Wheels but her primary focus was always spending time with and caring for the family she treasured. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Duncan, her parents, Hattie and Samuel Franklin and her brother, Jewett Franklin and his wife Catherine. Nell is survived her sons, Royce B. Duncan and his wife Nancy of Grayson and S. Wayne Duncan and his wife Pamela Van Dalfsen of Seattle; grandchildren, Corey Duncan and his wife Whitney of Grayson, Lindsay Duncan of Charlotte, and Tracey Oat and her husband Glen of Peachtree City, and Anna Duncan and Claire Duncan, both of Seattle; great-grandchildren, David and Sara Duncan of Grayson. She was blessed by a large family of brothers and sisters and their spouses, Kathleen Sorrells and husband Charles K., Andrew Franklin and Syble, Felton Franklin and Lorraine, Hollan Franklin and Christine, Virginia Brogdon, Jane Beaver, Rastus Franklin and Barbara, and Yvonne Schubele and Don. She will also be missed by the many nieces, nephews, and cousins whose lives she touched. Visitation will be from 1-5 and 6-9 on Tuesday, February 14, at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, and the funeral service celebrating her life will be Wednesday, February 15 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Buford, 4550 Hamilton Mill Rd., Buford, GA 30518. Interment will be at Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery, Buford. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Buford Missions Fund.
