His first touch is fantastic and his ability to beat players in 1v1 situations keeps defenders on their heels. He scored several amazing goals last season, and the team will lean on him for similar contributions this year."

He is the returning leading goal scorer from the 2011 state runner-up squad, and is poised to have another great season. Emmanuel's ability to beat players both with his back to the goal and facing defenders in the open field is what sets him apart from other strikers. He has a knack for scoring both on the ground and in the air, which makes him very difficult to defend."

Jeremy's change of pace enables him to elude defenders and he has a natural ability to find the back of the net. Rector is a very special player who challenges every member of our team to improve daily. His hard work on the field as well as in the classroom has made him a very desirable D-I collegiate student-athlete. He has tremendous potential at the next level."

She is a very competitive and passionate young lady whether it be in training or in a game. She comes to each practice and game with a smile on her face and loves the game of soccer. She is one or our captains this season and consistently leads her teammates by her work ethic. She is a player that every coach loves to have as a part of their team."

Outside of yourself, the best Gwinnett soccer player currently is: "I think Lauren Tanner is one of the best players in Gwinnett. She is fast and attacks the goal well. I am excited to be going to UGA with her."

Coach Troy Bendickson's take: Rachel has unbelievable combination of technical skill and athleticism. Her touch on the ball is magic, and she is just as fast with the ball at her feet than without, and her physical strength on the ball is second to none. She is a student of the game with great vision, and so much confidence in herself that she wants the ball at her feet because she knows she can do something with it. Rachel is the definition of a striker. She puts the ball in the back of the net, period.

School: North Gwinnett

Class: Senior

• Despite missing time with injuries, had 13 goals and seven assists last season

• Had five goals and an assist in four playoff games as North finished as state runner-up

• Also started for North's 2010 state championship team, recording nine goals (two in playoffs) and five assists

Coach Erik Crawford's take: "Lauren is one of the hardest workers we have ever had here at North. She is quick, skillful and can play many different positions. She struggled with injuries during the season last year, but turned it on in playoffs, helping the team reach the finals for the second straight year. She is a great leader for us and we wish her luck in the future at Georgia State."

Good luck, Lauren! Let's pray that you can play, injury free, your senior year as a Lady Bulldogs soccer player. Your soccer talents will be needed, especially during the tough Region 7-5A schedule. Your leadership will be needed even more, both during practice and in the games. I have confidence in you and in your teammates, that the North Gwinnett High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team will be a force to be reckon with again this year! GO LADY BULLDOGS!
