Mill Creek's junior varsity girls basketball team won the Region 7-AAAAA Tournament championship this past weekend with a 40-31 win over Norcross in the finals.
In the title game, Meredith Schulte had 13 points, Madison Phillips had 11 points, Shannon McCrosson had five assists, Malayshia George had six steals and Lauren Smith grabbed eight rebounds. The Hawks (15-2), coached by Tania Washington, defeated Peachtree Ridge 39-31 in the semifinals as Schulte and Phillips scored 14 points each.
Other members of the winning team were Ashley Gayle, Shannon Haxton, Laney Hudson, Aizha Ross, Jillian Wissel, Dami Agboola and Amari Stewart.
