Grayson juniors make college picks

Three juniors on Grayson's baseball team made early commitments to college programs over the weekend.

Outfielder Austin Meadows is headed to Clemson, while right-handed pitcher/first baseman/outfielder Taylor Allum and outfielder/left-handed pitcher Chris Erwin say they will attend Kennesaw State.

Meadows, who hit .388 with a home run, 18 RBIs, 19 runs scored and 11 stolen bases as a sophomore for the Rams last season, had an even bigger offseason after being named to the USA Baseball National 16-and-under team in the fall.

He set a IBAF 16U World Championship Tournament record with 28 RBIs over eight games and hit .537 (22-for-41) with a home run, five doubles, three triples, a 1.446 OPS, six stolen bases, 36 total bases and 16 runs scored to help lead Team USA to the gold medal.

Meanwhile, Allum (.350, 16 RBIs, 4-2, 1 save, 2.21 ERA, 27 K in 31 IP) and Erwin (.368, 1 HR, 19 RBIs, 2-1, 0.86, 14 K in 16 IP) also figure to be big contributors for the Rams this season.
