DULUTH -- Springtime is just around the corner, which means you can begin to tackle all of those projects around the house that were never finished -- or started. Need some ideas and instruction for completing the task at hand? The North Atlanta Home Show is back in the area with more than 140 vendors, several guest speakers and new trends at the Gwinnett Center today through Sunday.
"We're excited -- there's a buzz about this show," show director Michael Schoppenhorst said. "The show is so important to the community and it adds value to neighborhoods. It's amazing the amount of support it gets from the Gwinnett County residents."
This year's show has everything from going green to traditional solar panels and all options in between. New to the show, there is an electric lawn mower that cuts grass on its own throughout the day.
"One neat thing is this company Kyodo has its LawnBott at the show," Schoppenhorst said. "It's a little electric lawn mower to cut your grass and when it runs low on its battery, it returns to its green house to recharge. It's also extremely quiet. It may cut your grass at 2 a.m. and your neighbors wouldn't know it."
Besides the flashy new products on the market, there are also plenty of guest speakers, including HGTV's Tonya M. Williams of "Designed to Sell" and "Bang for your Buck."
"She'll help give people a vision -- she knows what people are looking for when people are buying a house," Schoppenhorst said "People always look at flooring. It's the first thing they notice when they walk in the door. There's so many options that she'll cover in the session."
Williams will present "Adding Value with Fabulous Flooring" at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walter Reeves and Dave Baker of AM 750 and NOW 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB will broadcast "The Lawn and Garden Show" and "The Home Fix-It Show" live from the event Saturday.
