The Parkview junior varsity girls basketball team finished off its perfect season by beating Archer 40-23 in the Region 8-AAAAA Tournament championship game last weekend. The Panthers finished the season with an 18-0 record.
The team was led by Sony Adkisson, who scored 10 points in the title game. Kristin Telford was the tournament MVP and Tolu Yerokun and Sony Adkisson were selected to the all-tournament team. Other team members include: Alex Osborn, Jailyn Thomas, Kiara Mitchell, Kyana Campbell, Taylor Steward, Sydni Vinson, Bernice McGriff and Juila Ara. The team's head coach is Aaron Schuck and his assistant, Courtney Strauthers.
"This team understood the importance of not only playing hard but playing smart, that's what makes me most proud," Schuck said. "It was fun to watch them execute on both ends of the floor in the championship game. The girls deserve all the credit."
