Dacula principal retiring

DACULA -- After 12 years at the helm, administrator Donnie Nutt is retiring from his post as principal of Dacula High School.

Nutt said he has enjoyed his time there as well as working for Gwinnett County Public Schools. "It's been great," Nutt said Wednesday. "It's been amazing being here watching this community grow like it has."

Prior to his time as principal, he served at Dacula as an assistant principal from 1998-2000. He also has served as an assistant principal at Shiloh High School and Meadowcreek High School. Prior to that, he was an industrial arts teacher for 10 years with the district. He has also served as an assistant football coach at Shiloh High School and Dacula.

I had quite a bit of contact with Donnie at Dacula H.S., and you will never find a more genuinely nice guy. One day in particular I remember was a very sad day at the School. I was there to discuss some business with him and the day before there had been a tragic accident in front of the school involving a student. I had no clue what was going on. Donnie was comforting students as best he could. I could tell he certainly had his entire heart and soul behind that comfort for them,

Great Guy!
