Ernest E. “Curly” Irvin, Jr., age 82, of Snellville, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Peggy J. Irvin in 1996. He is survived by daughter; Amanda & Rick Lane of Atlanta, GA; step-son; James & Elizabeth Gant of Cumming, GA; step-daughter, Deborah & Scott Outman of Decatur, GA; brother, Clarence Irvin of Snellville, GA; aunt, Virginia Hearn of Crossett, AK; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Curly Irvin was born in Belzonia, Mississippi on November 17, 1929 to Mary Elizabeth Hearn Irvin and Ernest Elmer Irvin, Sr. He graduated from Amory High School in Amory, MS and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in combat during the Korean War. He retired from Hormel Foods as a Meat Packer with over 46 years of service. Ernest was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Snellville where he was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and was known throughout the church as the “Breadman.” He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and also working with the children at the church. Curly will be missed by all that knew this wonderful Southern gentleman. The Service Celebrating the Life of Mr. Irvin will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment Eternal Hills Memory Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
