LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Georgia Department of Transportation named Chris Dills as area engineer for Gwinnett and Barrow counties.
Beginning his career in 1994 as a maintenance worker, Dills worked his way up to construction project manager and later construction project manager. He has been the assistant area engineer for construction for Barrow and Gwinnett since 2007.
In his new role, Dills will be responsible for maintenance and construction on over 300 centerline mile of interstate and state route in his area. He will manage more than 30 employees.
"Chris will do a great job as area engineer. He works well with the local officials as well as their staff," said district construction engineer Johnny Emmett. "He is a great conduit to keep projects moving forward and communication open. He is an asset to our District Management Team and to the Citizens of Georgia."
Dills lives in Bogart with his wife Bobbie, whose father Bobby Morris retired from the department. Morris also served as Assistant Area Engineer for Gwinnett County.
