LOGANVILLE -- The second annual Rosebud Science Fair was held on Jan. 26 at Rosebud Elementary School in Loganville.
According to Assistant Principal Lisa Bradberry it was the first competitive fair where students were awarded first, second, third and honorable mention at every grade level.
She said first- and second-place winners will now advance to the regional science and engineering fair scheduled for Feb. 24 at the Gwinnett Arena.
Winners included the following, kindergarten: Amaya Hampton, first place, Gabriel Gaddis, second; first grade, Cassius Hann, first place, Jayden, Ndungu, second and Tracy Phan, third; second grade, Madeline Wilson, first place, Shaniya Thomas, second, Emily Cain, third and Nicolas Williams, honorable mention; third grade, Lauryn Peppers, first place, Jayla Pollard, second, Carly Johnson, third and Sofia and Isabella Luna-Liranzo, honorable mention; fourth grade, Annabella Rubio and Imani Spence, first place, and Jeremiah Lee, second; fifth grade, Desiree Allende, first place, Devon Holmes, second, Major Stewart Jr., third and Logan Hill, honorable mention.
Dacula High student gets presidential scholarship
DACULA -- Dacula High student Karen Ehret received a Presidential Scholarship Award for Georgia College and State University. The Presidential Scholarship is awarding Ehret $4,000 a year for four years, plus admission into the honors program.
College and residence in the honors dorm. She is one of seven admitted students who have been awarded the scholarship. Each year approximately 50 students come to the Georgia College campus for the daylong scholarship competition.

Brookwood magazine honored
The American Scholastic Press Association awarded Brookwood High's literary magazine, "Pegasus," with a first-place honor for magazines from a high school with enrollment above 2,501. In addition, Brookwood High Class of 2011 graduate William Smith was awarded the Outstanding Art Award for his drawing, "Tree of Life," published in the 2010-11 edition of Pegasus.
