PREP ROUNDUP: Duluth boys top Collins Hill for first time since 2006

DULUTH -- Duluth's boys basketball team beat Collins Hill 53-40 on Friday night, recording its first win over the Eagles since 2006.

Michael Randle scored a game-high 23 points to lead Duluth, while Ify Imachukwu added 18 points. Duluth improved to 7-16 overall and 4-8 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Collins Hill (8-15, 4-8) was led by 13 points from Connor Iverson.


Shiloh 67, Parkview 36

SNELLVILLE -- Shiloh received 16 points and eight assists from Jordan Gaither on Friday night as the No. 3 Generals posted a 67-36 win over Parkview in Region 8-AAAAA.

Trayvon Reed added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as Shiloh improved to 20-3 overall and 13-1 in the region. The win, coupled with Berkmar's loss to Archer, put Shiloh on top of the region standings.

Parkview's top scorer was T.J. Thomas with 11 points.

Central 69, Grayson 66

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Central Gwinnett repelled a late run by Grayson to hold off the Rams for a 69-66 win in Region 8-AAAAA action. Central (12-11, 6-7) led by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter, but needed to hit 7 of 9 free throws in the final frame to help hold off Grayson.

Mike Vos-Otin scored 13 to lead Central, while Justin Dewitt added 11 points.

Grayson (4-18, 2-12) was led by a 13-point effort from Ryan Lisenba.

Dacula 59, South 42

SNELLVILLE -- Dacula's Anthony Morse recorded 22 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks on Friday night to guide the Falcons 59-42 past South. Dacula improved to 13-10 overall and 7-7 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Dacula's Xavier Okoro also finished with a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

The Comets (9-13, 7-7) were led by 10 points each from Simeon Dennis and Ray Mobley.

Peachtree Ridge 61, Mountain View 59

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Cole Romaguera scored on a layup right before the buzzer to lift Peachtree Ridge 61-59 over Mountain View in Region 7-AAAAA. Romaguera's basket came just five seconds after Mountain View's Jordan Dilwood tied the game with a 3-pointer.

Jordan Capps and Davon Hill each had 14 to lead the Lions (14-9, 8-4), while Dilwood finished with 19 points for the Bears (2-21, 0-12). Sean Sparke also had 16 points for Mountain View.

Norcross 59, Meadowcreek 52

NORCROSS -- Three Norcross players scored in double figures, led by 13 points from Ricky Madison, as the the Blue Devils fended off Meadowcreek 59-52 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Harold Givens and Brandon Goodwin each chipped in with 11 points for Norcross. Norcross improved to 15-8 overall and 11-1 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Meadowcreek (5-14, 3-9) was led by a game-best 22 points from Adrian Hicks.

GAC 47, Decatur 32

DECATUR -- Cole Hobbs scored 14 points Friday night to lead No. 4 Greater Atlanta Christian 47-32 over Decatur in Region 6-AA action.

Collin Swinton helped in the win with 11 points, while Delano Spencer chipped in with 10 more points. GAC ran its record to 18-5 overall and 6-0 in Region 6-AA, Division A.

Buford 85, Cross Keys 18

BUFORD -- Sixth-ranked Buford routed Cross Keys on Friday night for a Region 6-AA, Division A win.

A.J. Davis led Buford (18-5, 5-1) in scoring with 18 points, while Kyle Kellam added 11 points. Buford's game Saturday with Maynard Jackson has been moved to Buford for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff.

George Walton 44, Hebron 38

MONROE -- George Walton Academy snapped a four-game losing skid on Friday night with a 44-38 win over Hebron.

The Lions, who fell to 9-13 overall and 8-4 in Region 8-A, was led by 12 points from Tyler Matthews and 11 points from Ryan Thomas.


Duluth 53, Collins Hill 49

DULUTH -- Katie Powell of Duluth had 24 points and 12 rebounds Friday night in helping the Wildcats to a 53-49 win over Collins Hill in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Tajai Pearson also helped Duluth (14-9, 5-7) with 12 points and 10 boards, while Tajmah Muhammad added 11 points, all in the fourth quarter.

Emily Buck scored 17 to lead Collins Hill (11-12, 4-8).

Mountain View 47, Peachtree Ridge 44

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Ty Bledsoe of Mountain View scored 18 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, to lead the Bears in a comeback win 47-44 over Peachtree Ridge. The win boosted the Bears to 11-12 overall and 4-8 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Bria Virgil added 15 points for the Bears, including 4 of 4 free throws in the final minute to help hold off the Lions. Free throws were a big part of Mountain View's comeback as the Bears were 10-for-14 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Peachtree Ridge (13-10, 5-7) received 11 points from Melissa Turvy and nine points each from Taylor Auzenne and Mahrie Bowman.

Norcross 81, Meadowcreek 40

NORCROSS -- No. 2 Norcross stayed atop the Region 7-AAAAA standings on Friday night with its 81-40 win over Meadowcreek. Norcross improved to 20-3 overall and 12-0 in the region.

Patrice Butler logged a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils, while Tori Carter added 14 points and four assists. Jasmine Kemp added 12 points and six boards, while Bri Williams finished with 10 assists, seven rebounds and five steals.

Parkview 60, Shiloh 20

SNELLVILLE -- Third-ranked Parkview put 13 players in the scoring column on Friday night as the Panthers rolled to a 60-20 win over Shiloh in a Region 8-AAAAA contest. Parkview stayed unbeaten at 24-0 overall and 15-0 in the region.

Ashlea Logan was the top scorer for Parkview with nine points, while Erika Joseph added eight points and 13 rebounds.

South 43, Dacula 23

SNELLVILLE -- South Gwinnett topped Dacula 43-23 Friday night in a Region 8-AAAAA game.

Samantha McCombs logged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead South (15-8, 10-4), while Arielle Harvey led the team in rebounds with 12.

Dacula (6-17, 3-11) was led by Briana Daniels with seven points and Joni Weatherspoon with six points and five rebounds.

Central 63, Grayson 25

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Taja Latimore of Central Gwinnett logged 15 points, four steals and two blocks on Friday to guide the Black Knights 63-25 over Grayson in Region 8-AAAAA play.

Jackie Finnegan added 12 points, while Alexandra Frazier chipped in with seven points, six steals and five assists.

Central improved to 11-12 overall and 7-7 in the region, while Grayson fell to 2-20 overall and 0-14 in region play.

Buford 62, Cross Keys 4

BUFORD -- Buford had no problems on Friday night as the third-ranked Wolves pounded Cross Keys 62-4 in a Region 6-AA game.

Ceely Coker scored 16 to lead Buford (16-7,12-0), while Bree Horrocks followed with 14 points. Today's game with Maynard Jackson, originally a road game for the Wolves, has been moved to a 3 p.m. start at Buford.

Wesleyan 78, Mount Pisgah 30

JOHN'S CREEK -- A pair of junior guards in Taylor Blackmon and Kendra Talley led the way with 15 points each for Wesleyan as the top-ranked Wolves cruised 78-30 over Mount Pisgah.

Talley also added five steals and four rebounds, while Blackmon recorded five steals. Wesleyan upped its record to 20-3 overall and 6-0 in subregion 5B-A.

Hebron 45, George Walton 42

MONROE -- Taryn Higgins logged 12 points and 10 rebounds on Friday as Hebron clipped George Walton Academy 45-42.

Amber Skidgel added 12 points and five rebounds, while Hannah Lentz chipped in with nine points and three steals. The Lions (13-10, 6-5) also received help from Brooke Davis with eight points and six boards.
