LAWRENCEVILLE -- Ninety-two of the school district's best spellers are set to compete Saturday during the Gwinnett County Public Schools annual bee, which is sponsored by the Daily Post.
Organizers plan to use a written portion of the competition to narrow the field to 12, who will compete in the oral bee. The written portion starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, and the oral portion is scheduled to follow.
The event will be held at Central Gwinnett High School's theater.
The top 12 spellers also will move on to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in the District 3 Bee, which will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 at North Gwinnett High School. The school is located at 20 Level Creek Road, Suwanee.
Event Coordinator Louis Mair said he enjoys "seeing how happy the participants are during the competition."
