When Sebastian Rice was a freshman, he was standing by the goalpost as a member of Grayson's marching band during a football playoff game.
Assistant football coach Richard Gillespie saw the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder and asked a simple question -- why are you in band?
The following year Rice was in defensive coordinator's Robert Andrews' class and he talked him into coming out for football. Now at 6-foot-4, 275 pounds, Rice signed with Furman's football program. Four years later, he's thankful for Gillespie and Andrews for talking him into coming out for football.
"I'm very happy I was standing by that goalpost," Rice said with a grin. "I'm glad I'll be playing college football now."
