PREP ROUNDUP: Parkview girls win Shootout title

GAINESVILLE — The undefeated Parkview won the title at the Gainesville Shootout with a 54-35 win over Chattahoochee on Saturday night.

Genesis Perrymond, Mia Marshall and Vickie Harris were named to the all-tournament team for the Panthers (12-0). Marissa Mandledove was named the tournament’s MVP.


GAC 54, Berkmar 34

WALNUT GROVE — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Berkmar 54-34 to win the Walnut Grove Christmas Tournament.

Brianna Cummings led the Spartans (12-1) with 15 points.

Jasmine Hill and Cici Buford added 10 apiece. Hill was named to the all-tournament team while Buford was named tournament MVP.

This is the second holiday tournament win for GAC. They won the Carrollton Holiday tournament before Christmas. Berkmar (6-7) was led by Nina Williams’ nine points. Williams was also named to the all tournament team.

Providence 38, East Jackson 28

SUGAR HILL — Providence Christian defeated East Jackson 38-28 in the consolation finals of the Lanier Holiday Classic on Saturday.

Jessie Kowalewicz led the Storm (5-5) with 11 points and Katie Scott chipped in nine.

East Coweta 34, Hebron Christian 28

SNELLVILLE — East Coweta defeated Hebron Christian 34-28 in the Deep South Classic on Saturday. Amber Skidgel led the Lions (5-7) with 15 points and Hannah Lentz added six.


Dacula 62, Clay County (Ky.) 57

DAYTONA, Fla. — Dacula defeated Clay County (Ky.) 62-57 to win the Sunshine Classic on Saturday night. Jalen Williams scored 28 and was named tournament MVP for the Falcons (9-3). Brandon Goodson added 17 and was named to the all-tournament team.

Hebron Christian 53, East Coweta 44

SNELLVILLE — Hebron Christian won its first game of the year over a school from Georgia when it defeated East Coweta 53-44 Saturday in a consolation game at the Deep South Classic.

The Lions were led by Tyler Matthews’ 12 points. Late Friday the Lions (4-9) lost 73-53 to North Oconee with Tyler Skidgel leading the way with 12 points.

Archer 57, Marist 55

TIFTON — Archer defeated Marist, the No. 7-ranked team in AAAA, 57-55 in the consolation bracket of the McDonald’s Invitational. Randall Smith’s two free throws with 3.2 seconds left in the game provided the winning margin. Smith finished the game with 26 points while Nafis Floyd added 10. The Tigers’ Bryan Hamlet was named to the all-tournament team.

Mill Creek 65, West Orange (Fla.) 58

TIFTON — Trevon Shaw scored 33, lifting Mill Creek to a 65-58 win over West Orange (Fla.) in the consolation bracket of the McDonald’s Invitational.

The Hawks bounced back from a loss to No. 1-ranked Tift County late Friday. Mill Creek was tied at halftime with the Blue Devils but Tift pulled away for a 61-51 win.

In the loss, Elijah Bryant led the Hawks with 16 points and Shaw added 14. Mill Creek’s Eric Ritland shut down Tift’s Brannen Greene, holding the Kansas signee to 14 points, well below his average of 31.

Mt. Vernon Presbyterian 53, Wesleyan 39

THE VILLAGES, Fla.— Wesleyan was defeated by Mt. Vernon Presbyterian 53-39 in the championship game of The Villages Chick-fil-A tournament. Will Clifton led the Wolves (5-8) with 12 points and Carter Hall added seven. Clifton was named to the all-tournament team for the runner-up Wolves.

South Gwinnett 55, Walnut Grove 37

LOGANVILLE — South Gwinnett defeated Walnut Grove 55-37 in the Walnut Grove Christmas Tournament on Saturday. Cam Moye led the Comets (5-9) with 13 points.

Shiloh 76, Luella 45

ROSWELL — Shiloh improved its record to 8-1 with a 76-45 win over Luella in the Hoops in Overdrive Tournament. Five players scored in double digits for the Generals.


Meadowcreek has two champs at Alexander Invite

DOUGLASVILLE — Despite fielding less than a full squad, Meadowcreek placed fifth at the Alexander Invitational. The Mustangs were led by two individual champions and five other grapplers who placed.

Rene Deluna (132) and Ryan Moore (182) brought home individual titles. Other placers for Meadowcreek included Malik Sanders (106, second), Robert Nguyen (120, fourth), Mardale Hobley (195, fourth), Nighee Eddington (145, fifth) and Tony Pham (126, sixth).

Wesleyan splits four matches

CANTON — Wesleyan split four matches at Sequoyah High School. The Wolves defeated Creekview (47-24) and Hiram (42-30) while dropping decisions to West Hall (59-24) and Mountain View (53-21).

Going undefeated in all four matches were Haydon Koch, Connor Fitzpatrick and John McCleskey.

Berkmar places four at Lambert tournament

SUWANEE — Berkmar had four wrestlers place at the Lambert High School Shane’s Ribshack Hook’em Holiday Classic. Ethan Castaneda finished fourth at 138 to lead the Patriots. Also placing were Alessandro Araugo (113, sixth), Rehmet Khan (132, sixth) and Jose Acosta (220, seventh).
