LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. — The Norcross girls basketball team earned a quarterfinal victory late Friday night in the Nike Interstate Shootout, defeating Westview (Ore.) 60-55 behind big games from stars Diamond DeShields and Shayla Cooper.
DeShields had 24 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals, while Cooper had 20 points and five rebounds. Cooper also went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line in the final 1 minute, 30 seconds to seal the victory.
The Blue Devils, 10-1 and ranked No. 20 nationally by USA Today, also got a team-high seven rebounds from Kolby Meeks.
Norcross plays Saturday in the semifinals against Clackamas (Ore.).
