LAWRENCEVILLE -- What a merry Christmas for this lottery winner.
Elsie Torres scratched off a $1 million prize while visiting her daughter in Lawrenceville for the holidays.
Torres, a 52-year-old mother of three adult children, couldn't believe her luck.
"I thought I'd won $10,000, but I didn't have on my glasses," she said. "Then, I thought I'd won $100,000, and we all were emotional over that."
Then Torres's son told her she won the top prize. "It made for the best Christmas ever," she said, while claiming her prize Wednesday at Georgia Lottery Headquarters in Atlanta.
The Sunny Isles Beach, Fla. woman said she did not immediately have plans for the winnings in the Millionaire Monopoly game.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Publix Super Market on New Hope Road in Lawrenceville.
