PEACHTREE CORNERS -- A 23-year-old man died in a Christmas Day accident in Peachtree Corners.
According to police, Nenad Lunic's 2003 Chevy Tahoe ran off of Simpson Circle near Centennial Trail, striking a landscape wall before becoming airborne and striking a tree on the driver's side and the roof.
The Duluth man died before emergency crews reached the scene of the 4:18 p.m. crash, Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.
Speed and weather are listed as possible contributing factors to the crash, Smith said.
The Georgia State Patrol reported a total of 17 died in traffic crashes in Georgia throughout the hoilday period, from 6 p.m. Friday through midnight Tuesday.
Six of the fatalities were in metro Atlanta. In northwest Georgia, one wreck investigated by the State Patrol's Calhoun post left three people dead, the Associated Press reported.
The State Patrol investigated 685 crashes with 300 injuries during the 102-hour Christmas holiday period.
