With options to play baseball and football at the next level, North Gwinnett senior Michael Haynes chose the latter.
The standout quarterback committed to the Mercer football program, which is re-launching its program in 2013, on Christmas morning.
Haynes led the Bulldogs to the Class AAAAAA quarterfinals this past season, guiding two playoff wins (including one over defending state champion Grayson) while playing on a broken leg. He threw for 2,193 yards and 26 touchdowns, and also rushed for 622 yards and three more scores.
